Thank you to everyone that responded to all my questions.

Some of you mentioned that my son should be tested for " genetic " diseases.

Does anyone have such a list so I can give it to our ID Doctor? I know

he had asked me what our background is ... german, turkish, etc. and he

also asked if we have any genetic diseases; however, never mentioned

possibly checking into any of the genetic stuff. Are they able to test

for genetic diseases via the blood or will he have to undergo more

invasive procedures?

I do have another question ... when this hits, does it actually make

the wbc look as though the child has a virus? He's had tons of bloodwork

done in the past and many times they came back saying he had a virus;

however, there were also a lot of times they'd come back saying it was

bacterial.

For those of you with children in school, does anyone have a letter they

use to describe this condition to the school officials and how do you have

it handled should your child begin with fever during school hours? My son

could have began kindergarten this Fall; however, we decided to not send

him until the following year. I do know that I will need to get a Section

504 Plan in place, but was wondering how the school needs to handle the

fevers, etc.

Lastly, what is difference between a canker sore and ulcers? My son gets

a mouthful of ulcers; however, I've heard others on this list mention

canker sores. They sound even worse.

I also find it difficult to deal with family/friends/co-workers on how

often Mason gets sick with these fevers ... not to mention his other

health issues. They don't seem to understand how tired and exhausting it

all can be for not only me but my entire family. My daughters really

don't ever get jealous over all the attention he receives; however, we

make sure to also get our one-on-one time with our girls. We also keep

them involved in his care which makes them feel important -- especially

when its them he wants to have near him for comfort.
