Guest guest
Hello. I have a 9 year old daughter that has been through a lot. She is the oldest of 3. She has a brother that is 6 and sister that is 2 1/2. She has always been sick and seemed to always get some kind of virus. Or at least that is what we were told. I have taken her to many specialists over the years. When she was younger,it seemed that she would get recurrent bouts of croup and took her to an allergist and he dx of cough variant asthma and treated her with advair. the croup seemed to come less frequent but she sseemed to always be sick still. We went for f/u with allergist last year and she had horrible sinus infection. after 2 months of antibiotics they did a ct if sinuses and still had sinus infection. Went to ent and he took out adenoids./ I was really hoping that this was the end all but that seemed to be just begining. Since May of this year I finnally started keeping a diary of her sickness which prompted lab work and a trip to see a immunologist at st. louis childrens hospital, She seems to finally be taking us seriously and did a battery of tests which were mostly negative except igg level 3 slightly low. Cyclic neutropenia negative. She does appear to cycle fevers every 30-35 days. With the fever, comes sore throat, stomach ache, occ mouth sores, and some overall achiness. Her lymph nodes are enlarged when she is sick. The fevers and symptoms last anywhere from 2-4 days. Can get as high as 104. Needless to say, she misses a lot of school. The immunologist we saw wants me to try to predict when she is going to get sick and try to get a cbc 24 hours before onset of fever. She says that wbc will plumet at this time. She also did give me a script for prednisone but I haven't got it filled yet./ We are sick again currently. It was 32 days in between fevers this time. I feel like I am rambling but I am very happy to have found this site and look forward to any input. mother to Emilee age 9 Ofallon, MO.
