Currently I only note the duration of each episode (start and end dates) and the highest the temperature reached during the episode. I ask because I don't want to look back a year from now and wish I had been more specific. Guest guest Posted August 17, 2006 Report Share Posted August 17, 2006 Hi, ...when we first went to the Cleveland Clinic 6 months ago and saw the ID docs, they'd asked me to chart the duration of the episodes, symptoms (fever, mouth ulcers, swollen glands, joint pain, appetite, etc) when meds (if any) were administered, and a temp reading every 3-4 hours. We still do this. They found it helpful to note that in looking at the temp history, my son has a " break " in the morning on day 2 of his episodes in which his temp goes down to almost normal, he is able to choke some food down, and even play a bit before the fever jumps back up again and Ben is miserable. I don't think I would have noticed that break quite as quickly if I hadn't been charting his temps regularly during a fever. Just our experience! Hope this was helpful. I try to only take her temp when it gets prety high, I dont want to get to the point that she sees the thermometer and runs the other way! I also find that Audrey's temps are a lot lower in the morning and almost normal the last couple mornings of an episode. Frequently we think the fever is finally gone because she wakes up fever-free only to watch it spike back up by lunchtime.
