Hi Everyone-

My name is Brook Erwin and have a 3 year old, Isaac,

which has all the symptoms of . (mostly just high

fever (2-3 weeks apart), sometimes swollen lymph nodes

and sometimes red throat)

We were first(and last) told he might have after

I had to take him to the ER at Texas Children's after

he refused to move his neck. The doctor was worried

about meningitis, but after the long drawn out story

about Isaac's past with fevers, the attending ER

physician said it sounded like . They immediately

gave him a prednisone dose and 1 hour later,

poof...all symptoms gone. The ER gave us one

prescription for prednisone for the next time fever

occurred and then of course told us to go back to our

pediatrician. Like you can imagine, 3 weeks later he

got his usual fever and at it's highest point, we gave

him the steroid and once again...he miracouslously got

better.

My problem is that my son's pediatrician just laughed

at the diagnosis. He said, " Ha Ha what have they come

up with now? " He also said fevers are no big deal,

they won't hurt him.

Tylenol is completely ineffective and ibeprofen only

brings it down a couple of degrees.

Has anyone had this problem and if so, what was the

next step you took to be taken seriously?

Thanks,

Brook Erwin
