Guest guest
I my name is Chuck, I am a new member to this forum. My 6 year old son has just been diagnosed with Syndrome by a Dr. at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I hope it is not a premature diagnosis. He started a high fever in early March that were accompanied by painful sores all through his mouth and throat. The fever although low grade at time lasted over a week. However, the mouth sores have never gone away. He lost 18% of his body weight from not being able to eat because of the pain. He was hospitialized due to dehydration twice. He was first diagnosed with Hand Foot Mouth Disease and the Herpes. Finally thirty days after the intitial fever he developed another high fever and new mouth sores started to appear in addition to the pre-existing ones. We were told by our Ped. to go to Childrens Hospital in Philly and not to leave until we knew what was happening to him. On the third day and after many blood tests we sew a Rhumetologist who listened to our story and looked at my son and within five minutes said, " He has Syndrome. " He was given Liquid Predislone and we were told next time his fever rises above 100.5 and is accompanied by mouth sores to give another dose of the steriod. Since then I have been trying to learn as much as I can, subsequently stumbling on to your forum.
