I'm reading this and thinking about 3 episodes with . Not diarrhea but, a

low left groin pain after a BM. One time he yelled for me in such pain from the

bathroom he couldn't even get him pants up. He was very pale in a cold sweat he

had to lay down on his stomach for about 10 min. before the pain went away. He

has had 2 more incidents but not that bad of pain. This is only when he has been

sick. The Dr. thought he was constipated? I really haven't given this another

thought. I'm feeling the need to see a pediatric ID at Children's hosp. here is

Seattle and get the genetic swab test on . Since I sometimes question his

. We have seen an ID but he isn't a pediatric. With reading about other

kids labs, hasn't ever had an elevated sed rate. This has been checked

in the past with onset of his fever, during and after???? He is just getting

over a classic episode? Talk to you all later.

  • 4 years later...

No blood that I was aware of..and no watery stools just the opposite in fact.

She was backed up..GI said she had an anal fissure so we will be continuing the

miralax for who knows how long. The blister slash ulcers are located in her

transverse and her descending colon. She has had chronic tummy pain since May. I

first assumed it was her bladder acting up but then all they could find was

blood in her urine...one ultra sound and an MRI later still no reason pinpointed

why tummy pain oh and the nite tine illness. She has ped GERD

Maggie also had a GI workup last November. She did not have ulcers, but did

have polyps, scattered eosinophils, lymphoid hyperplasia. She has episodes of

excruciating stomach aches that she described as being stabbed in the belly

button by a knife. They also found that her folate levels were extremely

elevated. What it all boiled down to was an evaluation that she had bacterial

overgrowth in her gut.....that they attributed to her immune issues. My

understanding is that 70 percent of your immune regulation is based in the gut.

So it makes sense. It is also my understanding that ulcers are now considered a

bacterial issue. One big question we had coming out of the full GI workup

realizing we did not know if there was a problem in her small bowel....where her

pain seemed to be localized. Thankfully, she has been doing pretty well the

past few months with very few tummy aches. It has definately gotten better as

she has gotten older, but we also see her resolve tummy problems for months

after a course of antobiotics for a respiratory infection. They did want to put

her on prophylactic flagyl....but she was already on prophylactic azithromyocin.

Not sure if that helps at all. Just throwing out ideas.
