If so, how easy is the metro system to use there. From what I understand it goes right into the medical center. Guest guest Posted June 17, 2006 Report Share Posted June 17, 2006 Tara, Inside NIH there are cafeteria’s and café’s. Cafeteria not bad as it is fast food chains but expensive. Café is nice too but really expensive sandwiches… Not bad for quick lunch. The Children’s Inn has menu’s at the front desk so you can call out for food. Since you are there for a short time I doubt you will use the kitchen facilities available. They have outings to the grocery store in the evening… Sometimes there are special events and dinners at the INN… for free… also sometimes they take you out to hotels etc… for free in the evening… But this occurs randomly and it is something donated by people!! Just depends on the schedule. The volunteers at the front desk at the Inn are VERY helpful. They would have liked us there an extra day. this next time we are going for almost a week mom to kiara traveling to NIH Sacora, We are coming down Monday the 26th and leaving after testing on the 27th. Sorry to miss you by a week. Amtrak is a 6 hour ride from CT and then a 23 minute metro into the medical center.
