Guest guest
My daughter has been having fevers for about 1.5 years every 4 weeks. We are going for our official diagnosis at Childrens in two weeks but until the April episode, it has JUST been fevers. No other symptoms. She had a single sore behind her upper lip but I don't know if that was related - we will see in 13 days if we are getting more symptoms. The fevers have all been high - 104-105 except this last one which was only 101 (haha - only 101 - her resting temp is 96.8). So we will see what the docs say but her labs all come back boringly normal. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of tkfourangels Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2006 5:48 PM Subject: Question about the fevers Hello all, I was wondering if any of you experienced JUST FEVERS before your child was finally DX with a fever syndrome. With my research I have found that with some of the syndromes a child will only show the fever. So, I was wondering if that was true or if your child has to have all the symptoms of a fever syndrome, like the mouth sores and tummy issues before they will take you seriously. My son is 16 months old and has been having unexplained fevers since pretty much after he came home from the NICU. I am just trying to figure all this out. My son has only had one really high fever with his episodes. 104, the rest have been 100.5 to 102 Any thoughts?? Thank you and God bless, a and Kardyn

Guest guest
My daughter Ella turned 2 in March and has been having the recurring fevers for almost a year and a half. With her first several fevers she had no other symptoms other than the fever. During that time period, we were running to the doctor's office all the time it seems and our pediatrician could never find anything wrong with her other than the fever. Her labwork came back normal too. After the first several fever cycles, her tonsils started being affected along with the fevers. Now her tonsils are affected with nearly every fever, but every once in a while she'll have an episode with only a fever. We have never been able to find any mouth sores. Ella's fevers have always been very high, usually around 104-105, but going as high as 106 on a couple of occasions. I think it's hard with such little kids, because they can't really explain to you how they are feeling. I've read many posts about kids having joint pain and stomach problems, and we've always assumed that Ella doesn't have joint pain or stomach issues, because she has never really indicated that to us, but at the same time she hasn't really been able to effectively articulate EXACTLY what hurts. Her vocabulary is getting much better now so I'm hoping that with future fever episodes we are able to get a better idea of how she is feeling during fever episodes. > > Hello all, > > I was wondering if any of you experienced JUST FEVERS before your > child was finally DX with a fever syndrome. Guest guest
, I agree. Evan has had fevers since 1 month old. You cannot tell if there are any other symptoms when they are that young. As they get older they can tell you that their hands knees and feet burn or hurt. I remember before Evan could really communicate he would look at his hands strangely, almost like when they are a babies and discovering their hands, but he was past that stage. I knew something wasn't right, but the doctor's back then must have thought I was nuts. His hands were hurting him and he could not communicate it. Evan's inflamed tonsils didn't become a severe problem until he was about 2 years old. Shortly after he started cycling very two weeks. He had his tonsillectomy at 2 1/2. Prayers to everyone, -Tara mom to Evan(6 in May-) and age 8 Connecticut > > I've read many posts about kids having joint pain and > stomach problems, and we've always assumed that Ella doesn't have > joint pain or stomach issues, because she has never really indicated > that to us, but at the same time she hasn't really been able to > effectively articulate EXACTLY what hurts. Guest guest
Dana, His symptoms were reduced greatly for about 3 years. But they just came back this past November(possibly because of the stress of starting kindergarten?) I have an appointment with an ID Doc Evan's rheumotologist recommended next week. Very frustrating to have his fevers back after so long of a so-called " remission " period. -Tara mom to Evan(age 6 in May Pfapa) and age 8 Connecticut > > Tara, Did the Tonsillectomy help EVAN? Did his fevers stop? > Just wondering if that helped any.
