Guest guest
My daughter, Islay, has had a rough winter. Her episodes are slightly closer together than once a month and right after Xmas (at least Xmas was spared!) her episode turned into a cold that lasted only two days but after the fever from the episode went away, she started with pink eye (second time it's followed an episode) and severe stomach pain. It was so severe that I suspected appendicitis, took her to ER where she was admitted and they determined that it wasn't appendicitis but either mesenteric adenitis (inflammation of the lymph nodes in the colon) or gastroenteritis. The tests that she underwent were inconclusive for MA, but two lymph nodes were swollen. My question is: Has anyone's child experienced severe stomach pain with this (MA) diagnosis? Could this be, heaven forbid, a new symptom for (associated with the swelling of lymph nodes in the neck)? I find it hard to believe (but I'm not a doctor or a nurse) that gastroenteritis would cause a lower stomach to be painful to the touch and to be painful when being driven over bumps in the car. Gas patterns were normal in the tests so it wasn't gas that was bumping around. Glad it's over but worried about the next episode!
