Hi, ...

I don't get pains in the knees, only from the balls of my feet to the tips of

my toes. I do get weird " crawly " feelings in my legs at night, especially

when I'm tired. That feeling is VERY uncomfortable. They seem to go away with

sleep though. I'm finding that I am becoming more clumsy as time goes on as

well as tripping over nothing too. Hang in there, kiddo ...

I have pain in my knees, they are hyperextended due to the lack of muscles

in my legs. The pain is due to the shiffting of the joint from one side,

the stronger side wih more muscle strength pulling and the weaker side being

pulled. This causes stress on the joints causing pain. I have off and on

Plantar Fasciitis, I have very high arches, I do a lot of stretching to

relieve this. >Becky

Hi and ,

I just wanted to tell you that I too have much leg pain and those dreaded

crawly

feelings, especially in the evening and at night. I also have a ripping

sensation when I try to sit on my legs on the floor. It's really scary, but I

just keep thinking, while its happening that eventually it will go away.

, I too fall alot, and get mighty embarrassed when I'm sitting on the

floor in the middle of the mall, and people ask if I need help, " No, I'm

sitting here getting a different perspective on life. " I'm sorry, I am still

having a hard time letting people help me. I guess the fact that I haven't

broken any bones(yet), is something to be thankful for. I do know that

having my walking stick has helped me considerably. Thank-you everyone for

your imput and patience. You have all been very helpful and informative, and

I thank you, Many Blessings, Michele

Hi, Michele ...

What ARE those crawly things in the legs anyway? I seem to get them when I'm

really tired and only at night ... like when I am relaxing watching TV, or

more commonly for me, listening to music and reading. As far as falling

down, I trip a lot over nothing . A few months ago, I fell in a parking lot

and really skinned myself up ... not to mention, completely ruining a brand

new pair of expensive trousers. I think the stumbling is due to my right

foot not picking up like its supposed to. Its only slight at this point, but

just enough at times to catch me by surprise and down I go. My balance seems

to be deteriorating a bit as well, but I don't think its contributing to the

falling at this point. I have a heck of a time putting on my pants, so much

so, that I have to lean up against something to maintain balance. This is

quite different from when I was younger ... back then I had a hard time

keeping them on ! :o) Sweet " ELLA " says hello to everyone ... Dang, my

feet hurt.

Becky:

I hyperextend my knees when I walk, also. The AFO's I wear have relieved a

lot of the pain, but also doing some leg lifts with ankle weights helps

tremendously. I know when I start hurtin' I need to get crackin' and do

some of the exercises that I learned from my physical therapist. I

occasionally take Naproxen, too. (I have one high arch and one low arch)

FYI,

Melody

Hi Melody, I can't do leg lifts, wish I could. I have lost 50% quad

strength in my legs along with the rest of my muscle loss, its near

impossilbe. I wear full leg braces from groin to toes. I take Celebrex,

it helps the swelling.

Hi Becky,

I hope your braces fit really well and give your legs the best support

possible.

I am currently getting cortisone patch treatments (isophoresis) for an

irritated tendon on the inside of my knee (which is being caused by my short

leg brace, we think).

I also ice the knee every evening. I had really bad pain for the last 6

weeks unless I stayed off my feet most of the time. It is much better now.

I can relate to anyone who has knee pain - it's awful.

Please take care,

Melody

Melody, does the patch work? Yes my braces fit very well,

actually they relieve the pain and fatigue I was struggling with before with

the AFOs. Do your knees feel weak and wobbly as if they are going to just

pop out of joint and let you fall? Mine do, and I'm not that steady on my

legs to begin with! LOL >Becky M.
