I have usedupmy " free " respite w/e so Elie will no be going in May. BUT -

perhaps we could meet someplace? It is about an hour plus from our house.

Where will you be coming from?

I went for the interview for Camp Joy - loved the organization's head of

medical - very level headed, REAL person. The exec was ........???? I am

supposed tohear by Friday if I got the job - then I need toreally decide if

I want it or go work at the prison, or keep the job I have, or become

second wife to a rich potentate or win IWON, the lottery........

Just try not to be unimpressed by the cheap facilities in the dining hall

- that is not where the money goes. Look at he buildings, the staff, the

stables, the woods, theplaygound, t he walkways, the food person who makes

kid happy food, the wide range of abilities of people present and the

STAFF<STAFF<STAFF<. I wish I had a scanner o show you Elie's happy pictures

from St. PAddy's Day w/e. He even agreed to wear a HAT!!

And to give you an idea - his favorite staff member broght a cookie onster

for Elie in case Elie forgo his own!!!!

See me smile?? :~) :~0)

I have not heard of Camp Joy, Trisha will be going to Camp Baker in

Chesterfield County, VA for day care during the summer through the MR waiver.

The county also gives us one weekend 4 times a year at Camp Baker for

respite care. We found a wonderful transportation company that picks her up

in the mornings and brings her home in the evenings. We tested it out this

past week by sending her to the day camp for the easter break and she did

fine.

Carol, where in VA are you? I'm from VA (although

not there now) and my brother in law is on the police

force with Chesterfield County? My sis in law teaches

there.

Sara,

I'm in Elmira, NY. Middle of the state, bottom border. About 4 1/2 hours

from Philly. I don't get respite weekends, LOL, so all the kids will be

with me. We are staying in Philly for Sat. and Sun. and heading home Monday

morning. I will check my maps and see if we pass you at any point. :-)

Just got my schedule for he w/e of May 11th - I am working56 hours

fromFri-Sunday. So I guess I will not be seeing anyone - just work and bed.

I guess I will seriously look for a full ime day job. Maybe civil service -

in PA I hear that they are desparate for MH/MR case managers. Sounds like

something I could deal wih. Only m-f, no nights, holidays, w/e.

Hi Carol,

It took me some time to come up with this info., but it pertains to

camps. A group I belong to in VA Beach enjoys the Camp Easter Seals

Camp. They run a program where the members of the group go. The

whole family is included. The camp provides the meals and rooms are

nice. They also provide " entertainment. " We have tie dyed shirts,

been on canoe rides and more. They also do camp for the children

only. Some I know have started sending their children for a week or

two in the summer after experiencing the family camp. I don't know

how close it is to you. You can reach them if you are interested

at: Camp Easter Seals East, 20500 E. Seal Dr., Milford, VA 22514-

9730 (804) 633-9855 Attn: Devon.
