Guest guest
Hi Col, May I ask what Pediatrician did that to you?? They are no longer holding their oath to do no harm by leaving you without care! That is absolutely outrageous! On another note, I use Sewickley Valley Pediatrics. They have 4 offices. One in wexford by 79, one in Sewickley Valley Hospital, one in Rochester and one in Moon. We visit the wexford location and see Dr. Graff. He is not a DAN doctor but he is pretty well informed and up to date. He is actually the one that caught the autism in my son at a sick visit. He has done everything that I have asked for since my sons diagnosis. I have to say that I do not yet know how he feels about vaccines as my son is not due as of yet. He was vaccinated prior to the dx and has not had any due since. I ahve also heard great things about a pediatric group in the north hills called pediatric alliance? from other spectrum parents. try and google it. Hope that helps. natalie EOHarm , " analyzinggal " <mcstrom@...> wrote: > > Hi Becky, > > The DT comes in both thimerosal containing and thimerosal free. Guest guest
Actually one of the largest pediatric groups in Pittsburgh will discharge patients if they don't get vaccinations according to the " schedule. " Many, many people here have been dropped by their pediatricians for refusal to vaccinate. They are sent a letter that basically says vaccinate or you're gone. > > Hi Col, > > May I ask what Pediatrician did that to you?? Guest guest
Bah, I'm an idiot. I meant to post that Pediatric Alliance is the one to STAY AWAY FROM. They're the ones who boot you if you don't follow their schedule of vaccinations. > > > > > > Hi Col, > > > > > > May I ask what Pediatrician did that to you?? Guest guest
You should also write a letter to the editor of your local paper. I would focus on parental rights to make medical choices for our children. Becky Re: Need help in PA fast...please Date: Wed, 30 May 2007 12:45:12 -0000 Thank you everyone. I would have posted again last night but I was exhausted and fell asleep putting the baby -snip-
Guest guest
Thank you . actually posed a question on autismlink for me and I received an e-mail from one women who mentioned the same group in the North Hills. I actually called the office manager today of their group. I had no intention of ever going back, but I wanted them to know what he did to us after 12 years of trusting them. He denied ever telling me to go somewhere else and said that he " mentioned that I might be more comfortable if I were to seek out another doctor who does not feel as strongly as they do about vaccines. " She tld me that he came to her with this information this morning, a day later. He also told her that I asked several questions about several vaccines, suggesting that I was refusing all of them. Ironically, one was a vaccine she has already received twice. lol So, she loked up our file and, low and behold, there it was. It was ridiculous. In short, she told me that I " was not asked to leave and are welcome to stay with us and our group. We will keep providing medical care to your children. " Of course I am not going to do that, but what struck me was the complete turnaround in what she called " a misunderstanding " between me and the doctor. I think he thought about it over night and realized he screwed up. Now they had to figure out a way out of it. And THEN she added, " But, be informed that if you choose to stay with us, we will not allow you to use the spaced out schedule for your child's vaccines and will expect you to follow our schedule which is the same as printed by the CDC. " Yeah, but it was just a MISUNDERSTANDING on my part. Col > > > > > > I'm in Maine so can't help you with finding a doctor. I noticed > you were > > > trying to get a DT vaccine for your baby. Guest guest
, Can you tell me which ones they were? You can e-mail me the answer if you are uncomfortable with posting it. It is funny that you mentioned the letter because the office manager said that to me when explaining that 'they were not actually asking me to leave'. She said, " We haven't sent you a letter discharging you as a patient. " Well, since the doc didn't even tell her until this morning and I called, I guess she didn't get it into the mail before then. Guest guest
The PA in the North Hills is okay -- but others are not. Dr. Coppula from the North Hills Pediatric Alliance will refer to our local " dan " doctor and will not give you a hard time if you don't vaccinate. However, the PA in the south hills is the one that booted several of our members for refusal to vaccinate. Glad I could help. Dr. Coppula's office is across from the Autism Center, stop in and say hi. > > > > > > > > > > Hi Col, > > > > > > > > > > May I ask what Pediatrician did that to you?? Guest guest
Col, Why must it be a Ped? Since I was called crazy and a nutcase by my son's last Ped,for not wanting to dose up my kid with Ritalin and treat his problems via nutrition, I have used a wonderful GP. How did I find him? I have a friend who is a medical transcriptionist. She transcribes all of his Doctor's notes into the patient files. She knows whether a doctor listens to his patients or not. If you know of anyone who does this work, or have a friend who knows someone, it is a great way to get a referrral to an open minded doc. Guest guest
, That is a great suggestion! Thank you. I will ask around and see if I can't find someone. My own doctor is a GP. I have stuck with her for years for several reasons. 1) She always says she is sorry if she missed something or makes a mistake. She doesn't care about lawsuits as much as she believes in us trusting her. She often says, " We are practicing medicine. That means we are doing just that...practicing and forever learning. " No god-like know it all personality from her. 2) After 25 years, she knows me better than most. She knows that I avoid all medications unless absolutely neccesary, that I don't want any new medications until they have been on the market for at least 5 years, (I learned my lesson the hard way through vioxx, thank you) and she knows my concerns about vaccines, as I have reacted badly to every one I was ever given. 3) She completely trust my instincts. At the age of 34, I had a gut feeling I had breast cancer. I had no lump, no symptoms at all, but I knew it. She trusted my instinct and sent me for a mammogram. I was diagnosed that day, 6 years ago. For now, I believe my kids are in good hands. I would prefer a pediatrician close to home, as my doctor is a 25 minute ride away. My son's heart condition forces me to want a closer doctor. Thanks again for the suggestion, though.
