Guest guest
I’m in Maine so can’t help you with finding a doctor. I noticed you were trying to get a DT vaccine for your baby. I’m not sure they make a mercury free one. Holly Austin (aka kalebsrecovery on list) can tell you about her son’s story with not getting the DTaP a second time because of seizures after in her son, but the DT contained thimerosal. I think he seized after that shot as well. I’ll cc her this in case she misses this on list. Her son is now autistic. Becky Need help in PA fast...please Does anyone know where I can go to find a new Pediatrician? One that is flexible with vaccines? A website maybe? , I registered today with AutismLink hoping someone might help me there but I haven't gotten my ok to start posting yet. Some of you know already, I have a 6 month old. My daughter is 12 years old and my son (aspergers) is 11. I am not against vaccines entirely, but extremely cautious about some and certainly I don't want them all at once. I did get my daughter the Tdap recently because it helps to protect my 6 month old and the ped told us that they were seeing cases of whooping cough in our area. I did, however, refuse the HPV. The baby is getting some vaccines but very slowly and one at a time. She has gotten 1 DTaP, 1 Polio, 2 prevnar and 2 Hib. I spoke to Mark Geier at length about which to get and which to avoid, how to get them, etc. The baby had a reaction to the DTaP. Two days later, she went pale and cried nonstop for several hours. We called the doctor and were referred to children's hospital. They almost brought her into the ER, but she was not having seizures and finally fell asleep, exhausted. She showed no signs of anything the following day. I also spoke to Mark specifically about this since he knows a lot specifically about the DTP and DTaP. We have refused the pertussis component since then but did agree to give her the DT. They said they would have to get that for her. Today, I went in for her 6 month visit. She was due for a second polio vaccine today. The pediatrician, one my children have been seeing for 12 years, told me that they were not going to get the DT for her and that I could check with the county health department if I wanted. Further, unless I agreed to give her the DTaP (as they do not believe she had a reaction) and EVERY SINGLE VACCINE ON THE SCHEDULE, regardless if it is required for school or not, we can leave. Long story short...they booted us today because I did not want her to get the Pertussis again. The only other vaccines we even discussed in delaying or skipping was the Hep B to be skipped and delaying chicken pox as I would rather her get it on her own. I refused the HPV for my 12 year old several months ago. I checked, BTW, with the dept of health for PA and there is no notice of a whooping cough outbreak. I believe they were lying to us to force us into it. He told me that I don't have to agree with them, but that they will not treat my children unless they get every single vaccination recommended by the CDC. He said he cannot force me into the vaccines, so I have the choice of going elsewhere. Now I have a 6 month old, along with my older kids (including a son with a heart condition) and no pediatrician. Guest guest
I totally agree with Becky. It was after whatever version of DPT/DTaP that our son had that threw him into seizures. It was this that added to the extra hours at night that he wouldn't sleep (up watching TinkyWinky at 2:00a.m.).Have a gander at Dr. Tim O'Shea's book which has recently been updated: Sanctity of Human Blood: Vaccination is Not Immunization. He does workshops all over the country. Guest guest
Col, You need a word of mouth recommendation. If no one from the list here has one, google for a group with your hometown name, " parenting " , and maybe a few other neutral words, and ask on the local list. Or see if a PA DAN doctor can give you a primary care doctor's name. You can always find a family doctor, and they tend to be way less dogmatic about the vaccine issue. When you are resituated, don't forget to report that b*****d to the state medical board, and include the AAP policy that prohibits just this sort of behavior. Guest guest
Hi Becky, The DT comes in both thimerosal containing and thimerosal free. I told them we needed thimerosal free. Bottom line...it wasn't even about that. They want her to get everything despite my wishes or any potential harm the pertussis could do. I knew this happened to other parents who refused vaccines but honestly, and maybe arrogantly, I didn't think it would happen to us. I honestly thought " they'll never do that to me because we ARE getting some of the vaccines...just not every single one and we are doing it slowly. " Well...here I am. I am still furious. It is amazing to me that they could just leave a parent hanging with no doctor over this. Col > > I'm in Maine so can't help you with finding a doctor. Guest guest
Thank you everyone. I would have posted again last night but I was exhausted and fell asleep putting the baby down at 9:00 pm. lol and Sophia, I am going to check my e-mail right after I get back from dropping my kids off at school. (We slept in). I'll get back to both of you. I did call my insurance company yesterday after asking here. I told them what happened and they said they were going to write a report on him and investigate it. Not that I expect anything from that. The woman on the phone was amazed he did this to us. They also said that I could take the kids to anyone in our insurance network if they get sick, although it is unlikely anyone will see them quickly if they are not patients. I called my own doctor of the last 25 years and told them what happened and they immediately said, " We'll take your kids, Colleen. All three of them. " They also said, " You are allowed to refuse any vaccines you want! He has no right to try to force you into getting anything, let alone all of them! You are their mother! Those are your kids and you make that decision! You can refuse them all if you want! " They don't advocate for skipping all of them, but at least they understand that they can't try to force anyone. They will work with me. So...thank god I at least have a place to take them for now. That was my first priority. I cannot have an infant without a doctor, a son with a heart condition with no doctor, or any child without a doctor for that matter. And they won't make me do anything or even try to talk me out of it. My doctor already knows how I feel about all of this and she has already told me in the past that she agrees that there are way too many on the schedule. I still want to find a pediatrician that has privledges at the children's hospital, particularly for my son's sake. But, really for all. But, at least I now have some time to look without feeling panicked. Thank you all. Col > What part of Pa? > > I saw Dr. in Lansdale. He was GP and DAN. Guest guest
Col- I'm Holly and what Becky wrote was accurate. My son went pale and was seizing within 4 hours of DTaP and others. I opted for just the DT and was told it was thimerosal free- but was last dose of a 10 dose vial with full 25 mcg of thimerosal per dose. He then within 2 weeks stopped talking and within 2 months went from perfactly normal to AUtistic. DO NOT VACCINATE YOUR CHILD IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING IT- If I could go back I would move before I would give my son any more vaccines. My son is Autistic thanks to the DT- it may have been the straw that broke the camels back, but it was what caused it. Don't think that it wont contain thimerosal casue it still could. Good luck! Guest guest
I say you post the offensive doctor's name and phone number here after you get your records out of there and let us all call and explain to him what he did wrong. Heidi I would suggest let's not. Guest guest
Hi Col, May I ask what Pediatrician did that to you?? They are no longer holding their oath to do no harm by leaving you without care! That is absolutely outrageous! On another note, I use Sewickley Valley Pediatrics. They have 4 offices. One in wexford by 79, one in Sewickley Valley Hospital, one in Rochester and one in Moon. We visit the wexford location and see Dr. Graff. He is not a DAN doctor but he is pretty well informed and up to date. He is actually the one that caught the autism in my son at a sick visit. He has done everything that I have asked for since my sons diagnosis. I have to say that I do not yet know how he feels about vaccines as my son is not due as of yet. He was vaccinated prior to the dx and has not had any due since. I ahve also heard great things about a pediatric group in the north hills called pediatric alliance? from other spectrum parents. try and google it. Hope that helps. natalie EOHarm , " analyzinggal " <mcstrom@...> wrote: > > Hi Becky, > > The DT comes in both thimerosal containing and thimerosal free.
