Guest guest
Now, itsn't that interesting? They felt it was important to point out that sped kids have more $ spent on them without mentioning that the districts receive more $ for sped kids. I heard a story about the Winkleman's on NPR as I was leaving work yesterday. For some reason, they felt the need to report how much the child's school cost: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10305675 & sc=emaf At the time, I couldn't figure out if it was in sympathy to the school or family. I guess I know now. According to the news, I'm a greedy parent trying to rip off the regular kids > Carolyn > > http://www.coloradoan.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article? > AID=/20070522/NEWS01/705220326/1002 > > PSD in balancing act > Funding for special-needs not constant > BY JASON KOSENA > Kosena@... > Lynn Tucker doesn't care what it takes or how much it costs; she just wants a good education for her children. .... On average, PSD spent more than $12,000 in 2005-06 for each student enrolled in special education, nearly double what was spent on each mainstream child. .... Note that the funding per typical general ed child in Northern Colorado is only about $6,000 per year.
