Guest guest
Hello. Can you please tell me more about Udo's Oil? Where to buy it etc. My daughter is 14 months old and she has some patches of dry bumpy skin on her legs and belly. Our dr. put her on Cod Liver Oil but I have not seen much improvement. I do not know if she has eczema but maybe this Udo's could help her?? Any info is greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Skin dryness is more an indication of Omega 6 deficiency. Udo's oil can be purchsed over the net. Re: Udo's Oil > Hello. Guest guest
I bought mine at a natural grocery store. GNC may sell it. Where ever you buy it, make sure you check the date on the bottle. I didn't and it was past the best used by date. The store wouldn't exchange it because I had just opened it the day before. I have always been told that with any natural remedy, you need to give it atleast two months before you decide it does or does not work. My son has been on flax seed oil (and now Udo's) since November. He too has dry skin and it is just now clearing up but his ADHD symptoms went away or lessened within days of first taking it. Here are the Ingredients: Flax oil*, sunflower oil*, sesame oil*, medium chain triglycerides (MCT), rice germ and bran oil, oat germ and bran oil* , evening primrose oil (13 mg GLA per Tbsp), soy lecithin (GMO-free), tocotrienol. Guest guest
I was just wondering about the soy lecithin. My three year old chronic eczema little guy is allergic to soy. Does the GMO-free mean he won't react? Sheri? I have looked at the site and I'm ready for this stuff as long as it doesn't contribute to the eczema because of the soy. Guest guest
Stay on the CLO but add in a bit of Evening Primrose Oil, say a 100 mg a day. Bumpy skin is a feature of Omega 6 deficiency (EPO is Omega 6). Re: Udo's Oil > Hello. Can you please tell me more about Udo's Oil? Guest guest
Its bad. Take it back to the store and get a refrigerated one. It should have no taste. Guest guest
Hi, after I read all your recommendations I bought Udo´s choise and I was really disappointed. For me it taste/smells so bad that I don´t know how to convince my kids to eat it! I tried it yesterday in their favorite Spaghetti sauce and after one bite they don´t even wanted to touch it. Is there a trick ?
Guest guest
It is not suppose to taste nor smell bad. Check the date on the side of the bottle. The oil will smell and taste bad if it is expired or has been left out of the fridge. If everything is fine, try the oil in oatmeal (or other hot breakfast cereal), on toast with honey and butter, in a smoothie, applesauce or even salad dressing. If you put it in food, do small amounts. Don't try to use a tablespoon on one food item as all you will taste is the oil. Good luck! Guest guest
If it really smells that bad it could be rancid. Make sure to check the expiration date. It shouldn't taste that bad. I think it tastes slightly buttery. I don't love the taste but I can tolerate it straight from the spoon. My 17-mos-old seems to really like it and she will eat it right off the spoon with no encouragement from me. If you are sure that it is not spoiled, then maybe try it in a smoothie. Guest guest
No, the expiration date is okay( August 2003) and it was in the fridge at the store and of course here at home. Now I don´t know if it is just me (I also don´t like olive oil) or it is bad. Should it really have absolutely no taste ? >It is not suppose to taste nor smell bad. I guess I'd describe it that way too and of course it is oily. Guest guest
I know this sounds gross, but I just put some in a sippy cup with some chocolate soy milk and shake it up. The kids kow it's in there but don't really care, lol..... but then, they really like chocolate milk and that's the only way they get it. S. Guest guest
Sara, Heat will immediately oxidise fatty acids!. Hope the " scramblies " weren't hot when you added in the oil. Udo's Oil BTW should taste slightly nutty and leave a pleasant taste on the tongue. If it tastes a little prickly, get rid of it. Rancid fats are not good. You should also take at least 400 of Vitamin E with it to prevent any rancidity in the body. Keep the oil in the fridge and away from light and chuck it after a few weeks unless it goes of earlier. It's really perishable stuff. Re: Udo's Oil I tried it yesterday in their favorite Spaghetti sauce and after one bite they don´t even wanted to touch it I get my son to take it either in his scrambled eggs (after they are done cooking and aren't too hot) or in a smoothie. I wrote in my email that I put it in when they aren't so hot. That is how our naturopath told me how to do it. Sara
Guest guest
After a hole afternoon of " science " , trying to find something that does not taste so bad to eat/drink Udo´s choice I give up. I really don´t like it and I still have that aftertaste, $19 for the trash . Is there something else (like flaxseed-oil) that is good and has no taste at all?? Thanks for your help and suggestions. >No, it has a taste - they describe it as a 'nutty' taste.
