Certainly Bob sounds as if he is on the right track.

How easy is it to turn or "right" the titanic?

Re: Autism Speaks announces breakthrough...

Thanks for comment . I have been back and forth on this wholeissue with the s for awhile now. But in light of how mentioned vaccines on Oprah and her newconnections with SafeMinds etc, Bob mentioned both chelation and gutissues at the hearing last week and he also quickly and bluntlycorrected Sen. Harkin when he was talking about the number of vaccinesthe kids get, I wonder if AS could be on the right track.Yes Bob has alot of ties to different pharma tied companies, but thatdoesn't mean he can't be working to consolidate the many groups thatexsist into one large group and make sure it's solid before turning itover to someone (maybe even his daughter) who will fund the rightresearch to prove the vaccine connection and validate biomedicalinterventions. And because he took over the other groups (NAAR & CAN)there will be no other groups out their wasting money on reasearchagainst the vaccine theory. It could be that he they are not talking about their "real" plansuntil they have laid all the groundwork. If they did, it could allbackfire on them. I could be completely wrong, I'm just not ready to make an assumptionyet. It may take someone like Bob to turn the tables on pharma, after all he should know how "their game" is played. Maybe it's just wishful thinking. > > > > >> > > > > i find it amazing that will all their money that they claim to > > > > still be > > > > > looking for the answers to the questions we all have... don't > > > they > > > > know > > > > > that most of us have found the answer and its called DAN?> > > > > > > > > > those poor clueless bastards.> > > > > > > > > > jenny> > > > >> > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ---------------------------------> > > Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?> > > Check outnew cars at Autos.> > >> >>

Bottom line, our kids shouldn’t have

to wait “a few more years” for our “ally” to emerge.

They have waited long enough.

My words for AS, Either grow a set of

balls or shut up.

No future ally of MINE shall be one with a

website that compares what we are doing to blood letting and then posts that

there is no proof that diets and MB12 work –when there is.

These are things that WILL NOT hurt your

child, so they should be encouraging people to try them and to judge for

themselves.

Anything less is neglect.

Perhaps they wanted to " take over " so that NAAR couldn't do

the

anti-vaccine research they've been doing.

The big boat off course is a great analogy, I hope it's correct.

Has Bob ever been asked in a public setting why his organization

avoiding looking into the vaccine link when his daughter obviously

disagrees and voiced her opinion on it on national TV? You have

probably seen this but the link below is the s the policy statement

of AS and at the very bottom there is s link to children's hospital

in Philadelphia to stating thimerosal is as safe.

I can " speculate " all I want. It " looks " this way and they need to

know it. Don't throw the " we don't know " card at me.

I want to believe that can get her dad on board (which he may

already be), but can he get " them " on board? I love what has

done. I admire her as a brave and strong woman who is like all the

other brave and strong people on this board. I hope with all my

being that the truth will be coming out by what you infer here:

" But I'm not going to speak for anyone else. Let me just say these

questions are all about to be answered SOON. "

Your right, he does need to break ties or get them to admit what they

did.

At the same time, I wonder if he is " playing " them now, just letting

them " think " he's on their side. Perhaps they are still giving money

to AS, which Bob will gladly accept from them, but then turn around

and use it to fund research to prove them " guilty " . But if they knew

his " plans " for the $$ they're giving him, they would stop giving.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Pharma's inadvertently paid for the

" smoking gun " research!!

But I'm with you Nancie, AS doesn't speak for my child right now

either, and I will continue to support the other organizations that do.

Bob has been at the helm of AS for two years and in that time

I can't think of a single thing that AS has done that will help my

child, prevent a child from contracting autism, provide an

efficacious treatment to a person with autism or even provide the

research foundation that might achieve those goals. They have raised

and spent tens of millions of dollars. Perhaps they will change in

the future but I see no reson to believe that will happen.

I think people who agree with the AS apporaoch should go ahead and

support them, but if you think the autism rate has gone up in the

past twenty years, if you think your child has GI, immune system,

metabolic, endocrine and other physical issues related to autism,

not to mention issues of heavy metal toxicity or vaccine-reaction

issues then there is no reason to support AS. And instead of hoping

that AS may change it is far more important to create and support

organizations that will actually help our kids.

Nicely put, . On my own part, I am steering clear of any Autism Speaks or NAAR Walks anyone may be promoting. I love walking but I will not walk, even a centimeter, for any group that is not willing to look at how the vaccines children have received over the last few decades may have affected them. Affected they are. For the past several years, I have been trying to work with children who received thimerosal-containing hepatitis B shots at, and shortly after birth. I can't believe it: hepatitis B vaccines are not on our childhood vaccine schedule, but most of my students have received them over the last few years, most in their infancy. In the year(s) my students received their infant hepatitis B vaccines, these vaccines still contained thimerosal (or 49% ethylmercury). I am still trying to deal with the aftermath, i.e., trying to get these children up to grade level in reading and writing. This has not been an easy endeavour, Aasa Bob has been at the helm of AS for two years and in that time I can't think of a single thing that AS has done that will help my child, prevent a child from contracting autism, provide an efficacious treatment to a person with autism or even provide the research foundation that might achieve those goals. I told the lovely check out clerk at TJMaxx/Homegoods in Plainville,

Massachusetts that I did not want to make a donation to Autism Speaks

when she asked me to do so. When I told her I had three girls with

autism and did not want to pay for AS's Manhattan offices, a new

Herman chair for Alison Singer, six figure salaries, expensive

websites with lots of bells and whistles, Mr. 's limo to ring

the stock exchange bell on Wall Street and research that lines the

pockets of scientists who are working on behald of Merck and Lilly

and not Mia, and Bella her eyes popped out of her head.

When AS begins working FOR parents of kids with autism I will be more

than happy to wish I had the money to donate to them. Currently, I

can only wish I had the money to donate to NAA and ASA - membership

driven organizations who spend their money on issues that directly

affect my children.

Not to defend Autism Speaks... but I doubt Bob gets paid by the foundation.I saw their materials in the window of our local TJ Maxx, also. Yuck.I'll be the first in line to donate to Autism Speaks when I see their funding priorities finally shift to research that's worthwhile and can HELP our children NOW! Here's an interesting news release from 2003.

____

http://www.cdc.gov/od/oc/media/pressrel/r030401.htm

April 1, 2003Contact: CDC Media Relations404-639-3286

CDC Dedicates New Marcus Emergency Operations Center

State-of-the-art facility strengthens agency's response to health crises

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tommy G. today dedicated the Marcus Emergency Operations Center at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The new center will promote quicker, better-coordinated responses to public health emergencies across the country and around the globe.

"CDC`s new state-of-the-art facility enables us to employ an integrated response to any public health emergency and better protect the American public," Secretary said. "The emergency operations center allows us to more efficiently track and respond to disease outbreaks. I would like to thank Bernard Marcus for his generous contribution and efforts to make this center a reality."

The new center cost $7.1 million to complete; over $2 million was contributed by The Marcus Foundation, Inc. and other corporate donors.

The 7,000-square foot secure communications hub supports, organizes and manages all emergency operations at CDC and allows for immediate communication between CDC, the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as federal intelligence and emergency response officials, the Department of Homeland Security, and state and local public health officials.

"The nation's public health community had an urgent need and Bernie Marcus and other corporate donors stepped up to the plate and made it happen," said CDC Director Dr. L. Gerberding. "CDC now has a world-class operations center equipped to handle any public health emergency, whether it's a bioterrorism attack or an outbreak of a new disease. "

The Marcus EOC has 85 workstations, 9 team rooms, and central command station, as well as high-frequency radio support and geographic information system (disease mapping) capabilities.

The EOC has already proved to be an invaluable resource to CDC during the first few months of operation. It was activated after the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster in February to communicate with state and local public health officials about possible health hazards from shuttle debris. More recently, CDC activated the Marcus EOC within hours of learning about the global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Teams immediately had the resources to develop databases of sick and exposed patients and screening questionnaires, and to communicate around the clock with health organizations and scientists in Geneva and Hong Kong.

The Home Depot's Bernie Marcus On Why He Couldn't Do It Today

Q: Sounds like you're relieved to no longer be CEO of a public company.

A: Absolutely. The worst thing I could imagine is to be the CEO of a pharmaceutical company today. I can't think of an industry that has done more to alleviate suffering and improve the human condition than pharmaceuticals.

Yet the industry is under a withering assault from plaintiffs' lawyers and is depicted by some in the media as a pariah. I don't think that Jonas Salk could have developed the polio vaccine in today's legal environment.

Q: What's the solution?

A: Common sense legal reforms that fairly balance the interests of consumer and business and restore predictability to our tort system. That's all tort reform is – restoring fairness and predictability to our tort system without restricting access to our courts for legitimate claims.

Q: What can be done to bring about reform?

A: There are a number of organizations at the national and state levels that are working to do just this. I helped form the American Justice Partnership (AJP) with Engler, the former governor of Michigan and now the president of the National Association of Manufacturers, and Steve Hantler of DaimlerChrysler.

The AJP is a new approach to legal reform that, for the first time, brings together national and state organizations to obtain measurable results. The support to achieve reform already exits, but requires better alignment among national and state organizations, leadership, funding, and coordination through a shared vision of success. This is what the AJP was formed to do. If you haven't visited the Web site – AmericanJusticePartnership.org – you ought to.

AS had more money than NAAR when they started out. They wanted NAAR and CAN to be the unified voice. We can complain all day and night on this list but your energy would be put to a better use to write emails to Autism Speaks them selves and ask for answers to your questions.

I think the fact that Autism Speaks had $25 million dollars from Bernie Marcus from the outset contradicts the idea that they would need years to build up an organization.

Perhaps they wanted to "take over" so that NAAR couldn't do theanti-vaccine research they've been doing. Maybe they were tired ofseeing all the money that the Autism community worked so hard to raisebeing wasted. Wouldn't that be a good strategy? Why would the 's start their
