I just watched a story with the great aunt from S. Korea on CNN.com and

they did not say he was autistic.

She said he was ver ycold and did not answer her even as a child. His

mother was worrtied about him. He had mental problems.

If other networks are saying autism. Society will equate autism to

mental illness.

Another good reason for the government to " find " that illusive autism

gene. Kill the potential killers in the womb.

Nope - typically the discussion is around autistic children being

killed themselves (e.g., " The United States of Leland " , the several

murder-suicides at the hands of their parents, etc.)...

Seriously, I wish someone would do a study on that...i.e, where does the mercury vapor in those who imbibe alcoholic drinks (especially wine, which at least has some recognized "health benefits" in moderation) end up? A few years ago, I even heard Dr. Boyd Haley mention that those who drink alcohol, are less likely to end up with Alzheimer's. Is it because the alcohol thins your blood somehow, and prevents the mercury vapor from getting into the bloodstream (as some forms of mercury are aquaphobic), or is it because those who drink succumb to other ailments or accidents before Alzheimer's would catch up with them? I'd be curious to find out more about this,

Maybe he did have autism or maybe not but he had some other issues

going on besides just autism i.e. manic depressive, bipolar,

schizophrenia. Or maybe the meds he was on put him over the edge.

That I could understand. My son was on Seroquel for about 2 months

and it ended up putting him in horrible fits of violent rage. He

should have been hospitalized. If a higher functioning person had

this same effect who knows what the outcome would be. I just don't

see the kids and adults with autism that I know being that

calculating to do something like that. Having a meltdown in the

grocery store because they moved the coco-puffs to a different aisle…

How does someone with “mental problems” get thru 3 years of college?

I know people who were NT and couldn’t get thru a semester.

Someone alerted me to some crap on Kev's blog today. He posted about his fear

that we're

going to use this Virginia Tech tragedy as a platform for demonizing autistic

children.

WOW.

What a horrible accusation... but also a clear demonstration of the neurodiverse

double

standard. When time and time again us " curebie " parents are accused of fostering

an

environment that could possibly cause parents to devalue their children... or in

rare

instances murder them... but when an autistic commits a murder, GOD FORBID we

should

discuss the incident as an example of how children with autism need treatment,

therapy

and services!

Alert Satan he's gonna need a down coat today, hell just might have

frozen over. I agree with Kev. And I just wrote a piece about it for

HuffPo. I am very afraid that people will hear " AUTISM " and instead of

picturing Rainman, which is bad enough, will now picture CHO the

vicious killer. I'd be especially afraid if I had boys with autism.

Kev has a lot of trouble differentiating between demonizing the

mercury that caused the problem and demonizing children. I surprised

he wasn't demonizing the bananas I offered to send him for his

daughter after he called her a monkey.

I agree that nobody wants our children to be demonized.

Nobody wants our children to be seen in a different light because some whacko

(who

happened to be on the spectrum) murdered a bunch of people.

But I say that we can talk about this tragedy as an extreme example of the kinds

of social

problems our society might encounter (albeit possibly RARELY) if our children's

medical &

social needs aren't met. Including society's acceptance of them.

The neurodiverse think we do not accept our children as they are. They equate

Autism

with the person. As though autism and the person are the same entity.

That is the height of insanity.

I see your points -- My point is I don't think this man was autistic at

all - none of his docs or educators have said he was -- I don't want

people to jump to the conclusion in a guilt by association kind of way.

Mercury (or other toxic poisons) have historically been known to cause problems with anti-social behavior. One source I read said that the majority of men in prisons today have HIGH levels of heavy metals in their bodies. Anyone for a prison detox program?

Don't you think more and more children on the spectrum that are becoming adults without any intervetions, services, support or help are going to become more of a "problem" for society? I don't think his autism (or Asperger's) caused the rampage, but maybe the relentless depression for not getting any help, along with the toxins causing other problems with his brain, etc. pushed him over the edge. I belive some people are evil, but some are just sick. Not sure where he was, but I think we're going to have more and more issues with young ASD adults. I'd love to know the meds he was on -- for some reason, the

antidepressants in young males makes them violent.

I don't know if someone has already posted this but he was on an antidepressant I think it was Prozac. It sickens me they say he was autistic.

Hi everyone,

I decided to give EOHarm another try. :-) Awhile ago there was some

controversy regarding my existence here. I've read all the posts

about our press release. I think there were enough news outlets to

cover the " Cho was autistic " thing. Our method behind the madness in

sending out the press release was to put the kaibosh on people like

the woman who wrote in the Washington Post about kids with autism

being VIOLENT. We were trying to stop it in its tracks.

I don't know if it worked or not, but that was our intent. The guy

clearly had many other comorbid dx's and autism was not to blame for

killing 32 people.
