Guest guest
You can say you need adjustable seat heights for save transfesr for various kinds of transfers (i.e. to bed, to shower chair, etc.) to prevent injury and falls. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. <3  Lori ________________________________ From: a B. <kristina45231@...> Sent: Monday, June 20, 2011 11:00 PM Subject: Seeking help with insurance appeals for seat elevator  Hi, everyone, My current power chair (Permobil) has the seat elevator which was covered for by my insurance nearly 11 years ago. Now they are denying coverage for the seat elevation on my new Permobil. I have Humana POS insurance and was told by a sweet friend on this list (thanks, Lori!) that Humana doesn't pay for seat elevation. I am going to appeal but need to submit a letter as to why this is a " medical need " . For those of you who have written letters of appeal--what have you included or made known to the insurance as reasons why this is a " necessity " . Thanks, a
Guest guest
My chair doesnt have that but it is a tilt & recline which i was told Medicaid wouldn't pay for both tilt and recline - just one or the other - My MDA Dr. wrote it up and they approved both in less than 2 months - I was also told it could take 4 - 6 months - the medical supply place i use said they never seen a chair get approved that quick. - so i would suggest ask your MDA dr. > > Hi, everyone, > > My current power chair (Permobil) has the seat elevator which was covered for by > my insurance nearly 11 years ago. Guest guest
I don't have a MDA Dr. , the occupational therapist from a local hospital evaluated me for the fitting and she is the one who wrote it. ________________________________ From: WildFlower63 <wildflower63@...> Sent: Tue, June 21, 2011 11:22:23 PM Subject: Re: Seeking help with insurance appeals for seat elevator My chair doesnt have that but it is a tilt & recline which i was told Medicaid wouldn't pay for both tilt and recline - just one or the other - My MDA Dr. wrote it up and they approved both in less than 2 months - I was also told it could take 4 - 6 months - the medical supply place i use said they never seen a chair get approved that quick. - so i would suggest ask your MDA dr. > > Hi, everyone, > > My current power chair (Permobil) has the seat elevator which was covered for >by > > my insurance nearly 11 years ago. Guest guest
I have SMA. For whatever reason, I only use MDA for help with paying for wheelchair repairs. Should I have gone through them instead? Is it too late since my insurance has already been notified of my new power chair request? ________________________________ From: K L <wildflower63@...> Sent: Wed, June 22, 2011 1:48:58 AM Subject: Re: Re: Seeking help with insurance appeals for seat elevator Do you have MD? if so is there not a local office that you can be seen at? ******************************** Never mistake MOTION for ACTION ******************************** http://www.myspace.com/kayspalace http://www.angelfire.com/sd/LP35/home.html From: a B. <kristina45231@...> Subject: Re: Re: Seeking help with insurance appeals for seat elevator Date: Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 10:08 PM I don't have a MDA Dr. , the occupational therapist from a local hospital evaluated me for the fitting and she is the one who wrote it. Guest guest
Our son had the same issue, insurance not paying for the seat elevator, which he has had on his previous 3 Permobil chairs. We contacted our local MDA office and after she checked our records said he was eligible for MDA's assistance with the purchase of a new chair. I think it is every 5 years. Even though we already had the chair, MDA issued a check to the vendor for the amount they allow for a new one. Hope this works out for you too! > > > > > > Hi, everyone, > > > > > > My current power chair (Permobil) has the seat elevator which was covered for > > >by > > > > > > my insurance nearly 11 years ago.
