Guest guest
Dawn- what great photos of your family! is too cute. All those good looking young adults are yours too? You inspired me to finally get a recent photo of Ben uploaded. However- can anyone tell me how to get this thing smaller? I noticed most of the *gif* photos are under 100k. I just scanned a wallet photo and I get this huge thing of over 500k. If anyone can tell me how to upload it smaller, please let me know. The photos of Ben in the DS-Autism issue were from about three years ago. PB has (had?) alopecia areata, and had lost all but a few small areas of hair on the back of his head, which we'd buzz off every so often. He was that bald for two years, and for some reason it just started to grow back. We know that there will always be a possibility that the alopecia can re-occur, so I am thankful for every day that he still has hair. But as it stands, the fact that he re-grew a full head of hair was about a 5% chance, according to our dermatologist (whose specialty is alopecia.) Go figure. Guest guest
a it is great to hear you are on your way to getting your RN. It was always a great profession for me. Don't know if you have decided what area of nursing you want to go into but working with the developmentally disabled is growing. There is a DD Nurses Assoc. if you are interested I can send you info on it. Louise (IL)

Guest guest
ive been an LPN for over 6 years now, and mostly have loved home health care, often have had disabled children, most adults are for wound cares or hospice, i just recently went to the local skilled/long term/and alzheimers unit, care center to work nights no steady home health aides to depend on being there for my nathan (12) with down syndrome, autism, add/hd, ocd etc....I do like surgery too, and plan on going back to home health maybe after nathan is 18 and get more care capabilities, for him. I like the hospital but its low pay here in rural iowa, and they have been udergoin glots of troubles there, many are losing jobs at drop of hats etc, financial probs. maybe part time. will see. shawna. Guest guest
Kat - Honey we know it must be very hard on both of you with you working and home sick and alone. I think pt's tend to focus more or to much on their MELD scores instead of the complications and health problem they are having and think they are ok because their MELD is low and don't want to call their Dr's or go to the ER when they should. Toots get the duct tape out. We knew it would come in handy again. Keep us updated on both of you. Both of You Hang In There !!!!!!!!!!!!! Love and Hugs.
