Guest guest
My name is and i am mother to Max age 6. Max first started getting fevers at around three years. From the start his cycle has been six weekly, but if an attack is mild it can mean the next onset is slightly shorter. For the first year we were living in England where doctors were completely disinterested. We were told that 'some children just get more fevers than others'. We were also often given an antibiotic 'just in case'! We moved to Denmark when Max was four and he arrived here with a fever. I went to our new doctor immediately and was referred to an ENT specialist same day. So far the health system has been much more attentive here but no one seems to know what to do with Max so we have been passed from one specialist to another. He has had so many blood tests (eleven in one day was his record) that we are on first name terms with the plebotomists. He has been tested for everything from leukemia to malaria. His symptoms are always the same, fever, headache, stomach ache, swollen lymph glands, sore throat (that always tests negative for bacteria, although he has strep antibodies when ill), mouth ulcers. Apart from the lingering mouth ulcers he is reasonably well between episodes, although i think he easily tired in comparison to other children his age. We do ot have a diagnosis, I discovered the syndrome myself whilst surfing and thought that the pattern fits Max exactly. I have written to Max's paediatrician and asked her to investigate. Max is due to be admitted to hospital for further tests on his next acute episode so I intend to gather as much info as possible on to present to whichever specialist is now dealing with him.
