Hi all,

Went to surgeon Monday. He couldn't feel the suspicious lump at all, so we

looked at the sono and mammo results and he showed me where it was on the

film. He says it's very tiny, less than 1 cm. and because I have lots of

fibroid cysts in both breasts and a history of breast cancer in the family,

the radiologist was being very cautious about it. I asked him if he thought

it was cancer as it was not clearly defined and smooth, like most benign

cysts are and he said not necessarily, that it could be anything, he's seen

all kinds of things that ended up being benign.

I asked about worst case scenario. He says they will take it out regardless

and do biopsy, frozen section so they will know immediately. If it's cancer,

I'll find out when I wake up; they will do the surgery Friday morning on

outpatient basis and I will go home in the afternoon and can go back to work

next Monday!

Please continue to keep me in your prayers, this list works wonder with the

power of prayers. I am still very apprehensive. In the worst case, they got

it early and I won't lose my breast, maybe some rad treatments. But, the

surgeon said let's not put the cart before the horse.

On another note, is doing so well lately, I wonder if it's the meds or

maybe God giving me a " break " knowing I can't function too well these days

and is letting be a little calmer for me.....LOL!

Hopefully, I will still be able to take that Vegas vacation (boy, will I need

it after this!!). The boys know what's going on (Josh and ) and are

okay with it. Thank God kids are so resilient.

Take care all,

I missed the earlier emails. Just a word of caution. Make sure they

ultrasound the mass they remove. I allegedly had a lumpectomy in '99, normal

mamo/ultrasound in 2000 and then last year the mamo/ultra showed the lump was

never removed. By that time it grew from 2 to 3 cm. I changed doctors and

had it removed (again) and it the mass went under ultrasound. My annual

mamo/ultra done yesterday showed that indeed it was removed!

By the way, it was benign. I was told that most tumors are benign. I know

what you are going through because the stress/waiting is horrible. I will

keep you in my prayers.

Gosh Joan, that's scary. I'm glad things are going well with it. Must have

given your heart a check, as would say.

Hi :

Thank you for the update. We'll certainly all keep a positive thought for

you. Glad to hear the boys--all of them--are helping out in their own way.

Is your husband going to be home for all this??

7 years ago--8 this fall--they found a pea sized (if that) tumor in one of

Rex's (my husband) testicles. We learned that 99% of all testicular growths

were malignant, so we focused our attention on the 5 different types of

testicular cancer and chose our poison. We hoped for a seminoma carcinoma

which metastisizes last in it's tumor production. He had an orchiectomy

(removal). In the waiting room, the urologist told me the frozen biopsy

indicated it was indeed a seminoma carcinoma..and I was incredliby happy!

His tumor was so small that the doctor said there was no way it was a

mature tumor. The risk of anythinjg spreading was very small. He had 6

weeks of radiation once he was healed, which was a bit of a trial, but much

easier than keeping Andy from trying to sit on his Daddy's lap after the

orchiectomy!!

anyway, he's been checked every year for various related cancers and is

still clean. at 7 years he's considered a survivor and " cured, " but we know

the risk is higher for him regardless.

All that to tell you that good stuff happens. You have alot of good odds in

your favor. It seems like the chance it is a cyst is good, but evcen if

it's not, you caught it very early in amongst all those cysts!

Good thoughts coming your way. YOu're going to be fine. It's all going to

work out great. And the boys..well..they do somehow know, don;'t they? Take

care of you this week.

Hey Joan

I can relate. . .Kent had Hodgkin's twice and he had lots of chemo and radiation

and had

his spleen removed, etc. but has been clean for about 12 years!
