Guest guest
Hmm...I hadn't thought of it that way. Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone else had an episode that lasts more than a week with severe ranges of ups and downs? I'm wondering if we should push the doctor to see if they can find another reason or if this is just another fever? Any advice is appreciated ... > > Hi am > > > > I don't post often but my son Aubrey who is now 7 also had febrile > seizures with a fever and it is very scary so I can sympathise with > you. Guest guest
Our son, 3 1/2 had a 105 fever for 9 days and it was that episode that got us on the track to being diagnosed with . He went through many blood tests to rule of some pretty bad things. He had been having the fevers since he was 2 years old but was always told it was bacterial strep (since the virus test was neg) We always wondered why he was the only one who got sick with what we thought was strep and all the other kids at his daycare were fine. He took the steroid once and it worked within 2 hours and since then the episodes have been less intense. He is now on Cimetidine so we will see if that works. On another note, I have been wondering if other kids out there with have been ‘spoiled’. Since always was sick, he got what he wanted, then when he was feeling better, we were so happy… he got what he wanted. You can see where that leads. Now that his fevers…knock on wood… are less intense, we are finding that we have to discipline him more because of this. Just wondering… Dad to 3 1/2 Fevers longer than 7 days Hmm...I hadn't thought of it that way. Has this happened to anyone else? Guest guest
My son is now startgin his 7th day of fever. We gave him steroid last Friday and then fever went away and came back on Sunday. the doctor thinks the steroid threw his cycle off. I hope they all are not like this. Guest guest
, I frequently worry about my son being " spoiled " also. When he's sick, I let him watch more TV than I would, and give in to him more. It usually takes a few days after he gets better to get him out of this mode, but he usually goes back to normal within a few days. After the last horrible episode we went through, it took me a little longer because I was just so happy he was feeling better, I was giving him constant attention, playing with him, taking him to the playground, etc and my husband also wasn't home so I was feeling bad about that. He got used to me entertaining him all the time, but after a day or two, he is doing better and back to himself. One battle I have not been able to win is bedtime- I still stay with him until he falls asleep- usually 5-10 minutes. He is sick so often that that is one thing I just don't want to fight over- mom to Drew, age almost 3 town, RI > > > Hi am > > > > > > I don't post often but my son Aubrey who is now 7 also had > febrile > > seizures with a fever and it is very scary so I can sympathise > with > > you. Guest guest
, Today is Gal's 7th day of fever! For the last 2 days fever is very low between 100.5 - 102 but the first days it was around 105 + or in centigrades 38 -39 and 40.7. This time ENT dr. sent us to check for strep, but he knew the result would be negative. The result was negative. Gal has the white stains in his tonsils, headache, leg pain, sore throat. Dr. said it's not necessary to make any other tests, it's for sure another Pfapa episode. This was the worst episode Gal had since Feb.2004. Guest guest
Ilana, I hope Gal is feeling better- I know it's awful to have such long episodes! Drew finished with a 14 day one on Sept 29th, with ups and downs for the two weeks. Good luck, mom to Drew age almost 3 town, RI ]
Guest guest
ilana, if it makes you feel better, my daughter's fevers usually last 6-7 days. Although the last two episodes have been 3-4 days, so there is hope!. As for us, if its 101 and under, I don't even feel stressed, because I know its tappering off. Hope Gal feels better soon. Guest guest
Thanks and Azzie Gal is now doing great. I usually don't medicate Gal when his fever is 101 and under. His episodes last 5 days sometimes 6, but this time I was so worried. Ilana mom to Gal 5 Israel
