Any of you had experience with this? I always thought that adenoids are removed at the same time as tonsils, but doctor doesn't want to remove them, only adenoids. What do you think? Anyways, take care and hope everything goes well tomorrow for everyone. , mom to Sara 4yrs DS, ASD and 6yrs ADHD >> , I have a friend whose son just had his adenoids removed, but they grew back. Guest guest
Trisha had her adnoids removed first and then a few years later her tonsils. She has always had enlarged tonsils but last year they started causing trouble with her breathing at night. She didn't have many throat infections just that they kept getting bigger and bigger. When they removed her tonsils last her snoring lessend dramatically, she slept better and she had less colds. Trisha could never keep the ear tubes in, a few days to few weeks after having them inserted they would just come out on their own. After removing the tonsils she also had much fewer ear infections. She went from having over 20 ear infections a year to having only about 4 ear infections in the last year. That's a big improvement for her. I don't know anyone who had only their adenoids removed so I can't help you there. Why is the doc recommending their removal? Does he think it will help lessen ear infections? I would want to know why he thinks her adenoids should come out. Maureen
Guest guest
> Hi. Our Dr. did the same thing. Removed adnoids while inserting tubes. He said her tonsils were large, but not abnormally so, so he left them in. She had no problems with recovery. Good luck. Guest guest
had a new set of ear tubes put in and his adenoids removed when he was almost 3. Since then, it's cut down on congestion and he's slept much more soundly (when he sleeps).
