Guest guest
I did find myself wishing they would have disclosed WHO was --b/c while we were flipping excited --to anyone simply watching the show may think she is just another one of those " mercury people " --her words would have carried more weight if people know the connection. Having said that, you could tell it wasn't easy, you could she was strugling --perhaps a desire to say more (more than what was edited out) or strugling b/c maybe her parents don't get it... --and I know I mouthed off with a comment the other night about it sucking having such parents --and I hope you know my frustration isn't with you, but with your parents --either they are not on board, or they are being shut up and either way that is frustrating. But bottom line, the word will get out who she is --she opened the can, her foot is in the door. And she got further than most in main stream media with OUR message. It sucks yes, that it has to be someone with connections and people should listen to any parent, etc.. but it is what it is. It's slow. *SIGH* Keep plugging away... I hate to sound so blah about it, but I have stopped accepting that feeling of excitement when something like this happens. It almost makes me more tired. Since 2000 there have been about 2-3 times a year when something occurs, a new book, a research study, a news story etc, where I would think " WOW! this is it! tipping point baby!! " --and yet here it is 2007 and still we wait. Most recently I finally got around to reading Seroussi's book and I found myself putting it down often to take a break as I considered the time line. --She was well on the road to recovering her son the summer I was pregnant with Gavin. Wakefield published his study the MONTH that gavin got his MMR and DTP, the straw breaking his back. And I would put the book down feeling a little ill. Wondering if things would be different if I knew of this stuff back then. --Here we are a decade later and the info is out there but still not accepted. Are we ok with it being slow?
