She almost seems robotic about it at times. I'm going to run this by her docs to keep in mind with the upcoming med changes. Sounds like and have this hair obsession in common! Guest guest
Loriann, I tried the same method with . When all other methods failed, I tried pulling her hair a few times so that she would know what it felt like. I don't think she really got the message. In fact, I worried that the mixed message I was sending her - Mommy tells me " no " when I pull her hair, but then she pulls mine - would confuse her. This method worked for my oldest daughter when she was a toddler and would hit me while I changed her diaper. I lightly slapped her arm after she hit me and that was the end of it - she never hit me again. I truly believe she didn't know how it felt. This method worked for , but not for . Thanks anyway, Maureen

Guest guest
Well, not everything works with all kids. That's why this list is so great for me. Some things that other people come up with my friends with " Normal " children would never think of. I tried to reserve actual spankings with for when he did something that actually caused danger, not just irritated me (like when he pulled the knitting needle out of a sweater dress with a very complicated pattern of chains and colors because it looked like a good sword). Sometimes you just gotta keep a sense of humor or you'd kill them (figuratively, of course). I came back to dress her and she was gone. I ran all around the house, getting everybody running to look for her. She was outside, naked, staring at her swing!!! She doesn't get it if you're mad, sad, or scared!! She finally has the happy emotion down and we can tell because she smiles back at us when we smile at her. Very appropriate!! Took years to get there though, and it's not consistent. However, it does make me think that the rest will come. It probably will with your guys too!!! I can't keep soap in the soap dishes anywhere in the house. Even when they're empty, she wets her mouth and wipes up any residue she can. Soap and poop!! GROSS!!! We have it a lot easier than many though, because she is not aggressive and can be distracted. Donna

Smart kid there!!! You're right though. I did try smacking Maddie's hand once. She had been eating the dog food and we couldn't keep her out of it. So I tried giving her hand a crack and she giggled hysterically and put her hand out for more. What finally ending up working was that I moved the dog bowl to the other side of the room. She fogot about it.....LOLOL Donna
