I didn't realize Vegas was sunny all year. We're from the St. Louis area

originally, but have been in Hawaii for 3 years. I do miss the snow, but (and I

know this sounds weird) I don't miss having to bundle up. I've gotten used to

going barefoot all year. Not have to scramble to find all the boots, gloves,

coats, etc. before we head out the door.

I am bragging at this point. But when you guys are having 80-90 in June,

July and August, and we are sweltering in 110's, I am complaining. All in

all, it isnt' bad, if you like sunshine aobut 350 days a year. I do, but

some people dont'. I thought I would miss the season changing, but I

dont'---yet. Like I said, you can get to the mountain and get cold. Even

in the heat of the summer, it is high enough up that it is at least 20

degrees cooler than in the valley.

I don't mind short times of being snowed in, but Matt gets stir crazy and

until last year, HATED the snow. He wouldnt' walk when there was snow or

ice beneath his feet, wouldnt' go out in the cold willingly, and gagged

all the time breathing cold air! I was trapped inside with him.

We have lived in Vegas only about 15 months, but according to Vegas

standards, we are almost " natives " . No one ever lives here long. Kinda

scary for being the mom of teens, but my DH swears that most people who

come here are " hiding " from someone, some agency, somewhere! So they all

come here!

IT is just different here. (We are from Cincinnati). In the summer, the

streets are deserted. No children in the parks. No one out that doens't

absolutely have to be out. By the middle of September, that has changed,

the parks are filling up, people are out, and the place doesn't look like

a ghost town anymore. And that lasts all fall, winter, and spring, until

summer again. " Pool season " , with a heater, is year round here. We are

thinking of putting one in, and are told with rooftop heating and a solar

cover, you can swim about 9-10 months of the year without using the

heater. I love that.

It is the fastest growing city in the US, and probably the world. New

construction is amazing, the speed at which things go up. I travel down a

street one day, miss 4 days and go on the 5th day, and a place that was

level on day one has a building on it on day 5. And in Cincinnati, we

used to say that they STORED the orange traffic barrels on the streets.

Someone must have goofed and ordered too many, no place to put them, so

they line them up on the expressways so that people cant' wear out all

the lanes at once. THe barrels were out, but for 10 miles at a stretch

and no work was ever done. Not here. 2 brand new, 3 lanes in each

direction, parts of a freeway have been opened close to our house since

we have been here. they know how to quickly work on a section and get it

done! Kinda nice.

Well, you all have had a Vegas 101 lesson and so now I'm going to bed.

Good night. Enjoy your snow!

,

I have visited Vegas twice in the summer. Very hot at 112, but I was

comfortable in slacks or shorts. Our humidity is awful here. Even visiting

priests from Africa say it's too hot here! My husbands Aunt and Uncle lived

in Vegas for over 50 years. Gee, wonder what they were hiding from? LOL I

know he left here because of problems with the law! LOL The only *green* I

saw was on the ground, fake grass! LOL Never got over that one! LOL I

guess you are in the right place if Matt doesn't like the snow though!

LOLOL Gail. Yep! Had this happen NUMEROUS times!!!

However, I do love the change of seasons. Fall is my absolute favorite and

living in the east is so beautiful right now. I even love winter. Til

about February, that is. That month could just get wiped out of the calendar

for all I care. LOL

Hey! Watch it! My birthday is in February! LOL I agree, I love winter

until then too, then you see the same dirty snow piled on the sides of the

road until the tulips bloom! LOL I love the smell of Fall, and the

crispness in the air, the crunch of the leaves, the anticipation of winter.

You're right Donna, Fall in the East is about the prettiest sight on Earth!

How is your neck? How is your car? How is Maddie's transportation today?

Well then, that's something good about February, isn't it! LOL

<<How is your neck? How is your car? How is Maddie's transportation today?>>

Thanks for asking GAil. My neck is much better. The car needs repainting

that we'll probably see to..............................uh whenever...LOL

Like everything else, it'll have to wait on that LONG priority list!!

Maddie's new driver and aide showed up exactly on time today. They were both

very nice and paid lots of attention to Maddie (of course, she ignored them).

Both Gerald (the driver) and (the aide) made comments on how beautiful

she is!! :) I'm like....yeah yeah yeah....how long have you been driving

to Melmark? LOLOL Actually, the driver has been driving there for 3 years

and the aide has been with him for 1 year. She was home at 4:00. The

earliest yet!!!!

That's great Donna! Maybe they have all the kinks worked out now? LOL

Well, just for today..... One day at a time, like everything else in our

lives! LOL 4:00?????? Wow! That's early? Glad your neck wasn't hurt

any more from the accident.
