Guest guest
Hi Gail, I got mine at Walmart. The camera was $22.00 and the film is $5.99 at KMart, for 12 shots. The film can be purchased in 3 packs also. You can probably find them both cheaper if you check around, but it's pretty inexpensive considering there's no developing. You have the picture the minute you take it. The school borrows mine all the time and I'm writing it into 's IEP in a few weeks..

Guest guest
We did this too. I bought the camera, took some pictures at home, put them on index cards for a schedule at home, and showed it to the teacher at school. We didnt write it into his IEP, but she will use it, and wants to use it for lots of kids. Fine, as long as she supplys the film for them. Pretty exciting stuff. Guest guest
Jeannie, I'm in HB all the time....my in-laws live there and it's where my husband was born and raised. Maybe I can look you up next time I'm there (probably this week sometime). Lunch for all of us Californians sounds good too! Guest guest
Jeanie, I also have a 10 yr old son named Brook. We live in Orinda in the SF Bay Area. I have recently moved from Benicia another town, about 25 minutes away and have had to change Regional Centers. I discovered that they are all not the same. The one I'm in now is definitely not as good as the previous one. I get 130 hours of respite a quarter, and diapers and diaper liners. I have had behavior therapy for Brook on 3 different occasions also. The respite is a larger amount than most people get, but Brook is very low functioning and needs constant supervision. He also has a water obsession and loves to spray water and flood the house whenever he can. He in nonverbal and is not toilet trained. My husband travels frequently for his job. Brook can be very difficult to take out of the house because he doesn't like new places. I've also had anxiety and depression since dealing with a lot of his problems, self injurious behaviors in particular. The new regional center has to honor what the old one gave me until the purchase expires, but they made me wait without respite for 24 days in July and I have had no diapers since the middle of June. The new one also has a policy which is new that they will only allow your child 4 diapers a day, the old regional center did not have any limits. I would think that you would qualify for a higher amount of respite since your son had to be placed out of your home. That shows how difficult it is to care for him. Also they are saving money by having him stay at home which seems to always be their big concern. Let me know if I can be of any help in obtaining more respite. Guest guest
Marisa, Thanks so much for your insight! We have had to deal with 2 different Regional Centers in Marks life. The Orange County one is better than the Ventura Count one, but as Mark grows older his needs are greater! I have the meeting on Wednesday to request services, so I will let everyone know how it goes. Jeannie Mom to Mark and
