Guest guest
My four year old daughter has just been diagnosed with . SHe became ill almost eight weeks ago with a high fever which was cyclical, every morining at around 4.ooam and again in the evening, swollen glands and an elevated white blood cell count. My doctor is wonderful and did every test on her that he possibly could, strp, mono, etc all negative. She had been bitten by a mosquito before she became ill and I brought up the possibility of West Nile Virus. He communicated with the Infectious Disease Center at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City and to cut a long story short after we had another episode we were admitted last week and by process of elimination we were diagnosed with syndrome. They found Canker sores in her mouth which she had never complained about. Interestingly enough she had been prescribed Depakote for her abscence seizures and this medication was agravating the canker sores. The pediatrician in the Infectious Disease Center advised against prescribing prednasone as it is a steroid and there may be negative effects on the kids as they grow. He did say Tagamet may help but seemed to think that a tonsilectomy at some stage would possibly eradicate the problem. Has anyone found this to help?
