Guest guest
Last year we went over to friends' house for the 4th. He swam for awhile in their green swimming pool. It had a deck about 10 feet high. He decided it was time to leave. He laid on his belly and reached over the edge. I yelled,'No Tim don't!!!!' and ran to him. He thought he was being funny and it was just a long step. He fell ten feet. Thank heavens he landed on soft dirt not concrete. The hostess as not the least concerned and never even walked over to see if he was alright. After I got him changed he walked over to the van. His signal for going home. For the first time in his life he openned it himself. He climbed in. I openned it up so he wouldn't get heat stroke. I tried to wait him out but after 4 hours and about 10 people trying to talk him out(Dinner still showed no signs of being served or I might have been able to get him out that way). I gave up and took him to 's on the way home. This year we went with a group from our church to a minor league baseball game followed by fireworks. There are several good sized men in the group and I figured they could help me rush him out if he freaked. He never freaked. He waited over an hour to get in the gate. He clapped for some kids playing catch outside. He sat in the bleachers. Ate nachos, pizza, drank pop. He cheered with the crowd. He learned how to do 'The Wave'. In fact he even raised my arm to request it again. Everybody at church truly loves him and they did it every time he asked. He moved across an entire section of bleachers on him own to get to his Sunday School teacher. Not only did we stay for the fireworks, he loved them!! I'm not sure very many of our group saw many fireworks, they were too busy watching Tim watch them. One man even took a picture of his little face. I sure hope it turns out. This wonderful group of people is a little more conservative than I am but they love him so I don't think I could bear to leave. He seems to feel the love and prayers around him. He is making so much progress right now. All of you who are having a rough stretch. Think of the difference one year has made in him. It will get better. When you are fighting depression, remember you will not ALWAYS feel that way. Just ride it out and try to have postitive not negative conversations with yourself. When the negative thoughts come up, actually tell yourself to stop. What you think controls how you feel. Love and prayers, Sharon ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Sharon, What a great story. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. I hope that picture turns out. We need a place on the web to be able to share such things. Glad you found people within your church that cherish Tim. Maybe you are being called to be " more conservative " . Thanks again.
