Guest guest
Oh my gosh Sara, that's awful about your brother. I know we were lucky and the cabinets will be anchored tomorrow. I just put them on each side of the TV because Seth was chewing on the cords and I never dreamed he would be able to unlatch the doors and climb the thing! The latches are 5 foot up, at the top of the cabinets. Thanks for the warning, consider it heeded! Gail
Guest guest
Thanks ...said quite a few myself tonight! The sight of him pinned like that keeps flashing through my mind. I don't know how he could be okay. The corner of the cabinet was right down the middle of his chest. I am amazed he didn't even cry from being scared. The thing was HEAVY! Full of video tapes. I have always believed in angels, we all even name ours. Saw Seth's angel's power tonight for sure! Gail
Guest guest
We attach all bookcases and cabinets to the walls with L shaped screw in things. Bob just yelled that they are sometimes called angle irons, but they are maybe 3-5 inches on each part. There are two hole on each leg for screws. We use fairly long screws. My brother was pinned for 2 hours by a bookcase when he was 8 so I learned this need many years ago. You were very fortunate. My brother had severe injuries which have troubled him for year - frx. ribs, punctured lung, frx coller bone and both arms were broken and part of his pelvis. He climed on the bottom shelf to reach a book on the top. Sara >>> smilinggail@... - 05/03/0 9:32 PM >>> About had a heart attack tonight! While I was reading to the girls in the diningroom, Seth climbed a chair in the livingroom, opened the latch on a five foot tall jelly cabinet and climbed the shelves. We here a giant crash and run in to find Seth pinned under the cabinet....not moving....not making a sound. I lift the cabinet off him and he gets up and starts playing! What the heck? I grab him and run to the ER to find out he is fine. The thing fell right on top of his chest that was opened up 2 weeks ago and the kid is fine! I'm crying, he's laughing. I feel like Leah! Grubby clothes on, running around acting crazy. Though I did have my bra on! Thanks for letting me ramble...I needed that! Guest guest
Gail, Boy is Seth's guardian angel working over-time. He deserves overtime pay. I'll be sure to offer a thanksgiving prayer for you, (that you had a bra on!) Seth, and his G.A.
