Guest guest Posted April 24, 2000 Report Share Posted April 24, 2000 hi gail, i am SO glad seth is doing good!!!! went by elmira this sunday and honked and hollered.......my dh looked at me like i was nuts and said " what in the he-l are you doing " of course i woke him up from sleep in passenger seat........!!!!lololol i just grinned and said it was a secret,,,,gege he already thinks i am on my last brain cell........ i havent tried the raw eggs, but sometimes i make lots of noodles and let her mess with them....... so glad i kept all those old plastic shower liners.....heheh the glue i havent done either, but i will try it today......add some glitter to it to give her something to look at while she peels.......i did make some sensory bottles for her.....you take plastic bottles and glue or stick together at tops of them.......educational stores sale the plastic connector which is nicer to look at , but the tape is cheap and so is glue gun......one side has oil, water, blue food coloring, and i put plastic little fish in it........ and the outside on bottom i glue sand paper to look like beach so when she tips it it looks like beach...... the other side i put glitter and stuff or beads adn buttons in colored water........she looks to shake and tip these and watch them......especially good when shes hyper and needs to calm down.......just another idea........... gail, keep sharing and sara and nancy and everyone else......as for kent moreno he is on the list now........... but that list is not as good as ours.....i would never spill my guts the way i do here........this is my home and where i belong.......... leah Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It was clear plastic with the steps so the candy made the rain sound when it came down. After the candy was gone, he put in bb's and duct taped the lid on so it wouldn't come off. LOL What a good idea about the glitter in the glue...hmmm... isn't it neat how one idea can have so many different ways to apply it to each kid? We made the water bottles too. We used good old duck tape! We also made the rain sticks, but I haven't thought of how to make it visual yet. Any ideas are welcome! The sound alone doesn't grab Seth's attention. I'm spending the day rearranging my livingroom. We can't seem to keep Seth away from the VCR and TV buttons. Loves those buttons! LOL I put tall jelly cabinets on each side of the TV, the VCR on the sill behind the TV and am about to super glue molding over the TV buttons. He pulls the tape off them 2 minutes after I tape, so I will have to make the molding more permanent. He has a thousand toys with buttons, jeeze, what's with the TV and VCR? We made a box with a light bulb and switch a while ago and he liked it, but I have to put a cage of some sort over the bulb because I'm afraid he will break it. He literally sat for hours turning the light on and off! I am ready to resort to getting a portable TV/VCR and putting it up on the mantle! It didn't last to long here because my older girls played with it too and I ended up with rice all over the floor. LOL We went to one of the shower rod covers cut in half and taped the seam from the inside. We found one at an Indian Pow Wow they had in Binghamton, but it was too expensive as is the clear one his school purchased. LOL We should get rid of it and get just a small one. If you come up with an idea for a clear rainstick let me in on it. You seem to be mighty clever with these sensory things! We even bought one for Ian, and it's somewhere around the house. We got it at one of those smaller toy stores (not the big chain ones, though they might have it), where they carry Brio and Playmobil. I would like to make a few different kinds of sticks because he likes them so much. Leah, Knill is a tape the kids listen to and follow along with the activity. There are 4 stages I think, we are on one at home. It has a person saying what to do once, then a different type of music for each move. Like " Kick your feet " and then just a drum beat. You wait and see if the kid does it on their own, if not you do it hand over hand. Seth has done it so much that he knows them all in order and starts them before the lady says what to do. I don't think he understands the directions, he has just memorized the moves in order. He loves to go through the routine of getting out the mat and pushing in the tape. He sits right down and gets to work! I add sensory to it by having him " pat your knees " with fur or something in his hands now. The hardest thing is not talking during the tape. I always encourage Seth in everything, and not to talk at all is very hard! It is a great little program that you can do together and Seth has gotten so good at it that I make mistakes on purpose and he corrects me now and starts laughing. LOL We have to keep him away from the TV with things like the rainsticks. When the TV goes it is gone and not going to be replaced! Boy, don't look forward to that day I will tell you! They do it everyday in school, and we do it 3 or 4 times a week here at home. We just don't have enough time to fit everything in every day. LOL Anyone else use the Knill program?
