Guest guest
beth, We're looking into a service dog too. Have you applied for one yet? We were turned down by Canine Companions before we knews was Autistic, but there is a new group we talked too who claims we will not be turned down. I haven't filled out the forms yet. Guest guest
michelle and marybeth, what are the requirements for the service god???? does insurance help cover the cost????? always as usual full of questions, leah
Guest guest
Leah, The service animals are from a non profit organization. Their are places like Canine Companions, Delta Dog Society etc., who match up the individual with special needs and the dog, per his or her disability. It takes 1-3 years on a waiting list and the dog needs to be trained from a puppy after the right match is found. I asked if they'd train the puppy from hell that we have but they said no. I don't blame them.
