Below is the response I received from the CDC regarding immunization

schedules in 1960. None of the links they provide really answer the

question, and the one that comes closest is not even their link:

Thank you for your inquiry to CDC-INFO. In response to your request

for information on an immunization schedule for 1960 we are pleased

to

provide you with the following relevant information and referral.

In 1964 the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), was

formed to provide CDC with recommendations on vaccine use, held its

first

meeting.

The Committee develops written recommendations for the routine

administration of vaccines to the pediatric and adult populations,

along with

schedules regarding the appropriate periodicity, dosage, and

contraindications applicable to the vaccines.

Your may wish to contact your State Health Department to determine

whether at that time there were any State vaccine requirements:

A directory of state health departments is available online at:

http://www.statepublichealth.org/index.php?template=directory.php

More information about ACIP and a vaccine timeline is available on

the

CDC web site at:

http://www.cdc.gov/nip/acip/

and

http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vaccine/vacc-timeline.htm

and

Thank you for contacting the CDC-INFO Contact Center. Please do not

hesitate to call 1-800-CDC-INFO, e-mail cdcinfo@..., or visit

www.cdc.gov if you have any additional questions.

CDC-INFO is a service of the Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention

(CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry

(ATSDR).

This service is provided by Pearson Government Solutions under

contract

to CDC and ATSDR.
