I had dental work done about 1 year before I concieved. Two old filling replaced with new amalgam. Shortly thereafter I began having irregular periods and pain with intercourse. The doc said I was just mad at my husband cause he couldn't find anything wrong.( Idiot!) I had a fairly normal pregnancy, just never went into labor. Was induced and had a C-section 15 hours later. By the time Will was two, I had been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and hypothyroidism. Will is also hypothyroid in addition to his allergies, asthma, chronic constipation, chronic sinusitis, ADHD, Aspergers and verbal learning disorder. I also had an MMR booster as an adult about 10 years before I became pregnant. Shortly after, my eyes became so dry I could no longer wear contacts.

I have also discovered I have a heterozygous ( single) mutation on the MTHFR gene. I believe the MMR as an adult set me up and the new fillings pushed me over the edge. Will be getting the fillings out this year.

I went to a presentation by Dr. Wakefield in November about MMR and autism. As he spoke, I began to think about my booster and my autoimmune disease. Afterward, I asked him if he thought they could be related in an adult. He said he believed it to be quite likely.

I wonder how many mothers on the list had the MMR as an adult. I had

one in '87 while attending college. I actually still have the paper

listing side effects, etc. The univeristy was recommending that all

women around my age recieve a booster at that time. Honestly, being

the good sheep I was at that time; I went and got mine with no

heistation. Oh, and it was free through the univeristy.

So, many moms who got MMR boosters as adults?

During my first pregnancy, my titres showed no immunity to rubella. I

was ordered by my ob/gyn to avoid schools, day care, church nurseries,

children. I was told I'd be vaccinated as soon as I delivered. Yup.

Within hours of delivery, a nurse came in w/ an MMR. Twins were born

less than 2 years later. One of my twins has ASD.
