A Critical Perspective on Genetic Research in Psychiatry and Psychology

As you may know, I have published two books taking a

critical approach to genetic theories in psychiatry and psychology.

The Gene Illusion: Genetic Research in Psychiatry and Psychology Under

the Microscope was published in 2004, and The Missing Gene:

Psychiatry, Heredity, and the Fruitless Search for Genes came out in

2006. Earlier this year, I developed a web site, www.jayjoseph.net,

containing information about these books.

I am writing now to let you know that I recently added

pages containing chapter-by-chapter descriptions of each book. To read

a description of The Gene Illusion, please go to

http://www.jayjoseph.net/GeneIllusionChapters.html. For a description

of The Missing Gene, please go to

http://www.jayjoseph.net/MissingGeneChapters.html.

I hope that you will find these pages to be interesting,

if not provocative. They are particularly relevant in light of

molecular geneticists' ongoing failure to identify the genes they

believe underlie psychiatric disorders and psychological trait variation.

Sincerely,

Jay ph, Psy.D.
