Guest guest
And spinning is encouraged and given a fancy name " The Pirouette! " (What, you thought it was just a yummy Pepperidge Farm cookie?) I wish I could take my own girls to this class. Perhaps more will open up around the country. > > hello.. as a former ballerina.. studied for 20 years.. classical russian > ballet... this is perfect for autistic individuals. Guest guest
>We put our autistic " son " in a ballet class 2 years ago (with his typical twin sister). He has since lost his diagnosis, but continues to take ballet/jazz/tap. The instructor is wonderful and currently has 2 more autistic children in other classes, not to mention many more who are somewhere on the spectrum (add, adhd, etc...) She keeps aids on hand to help in these classes. My son has developed so many skills since beginning dance - improved gross motor, balance, discipline, listening skills, and is so much better coordinated all together. He's actually one of the better ones in his group of 18, not to mention he's the only boy so he's enjoying every minute:-) and he's only 5! Next year he says he's playing football, but if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing. There are some great instructors out there, you just have to find a willing heart and then educate it. Good luck. And spinning is encouraged and given a fancy name " The Pirouette! Guest guest
The core strength alone from ballet would be a huge help to our kids. That gross motor base is critical to their functioning. I'm going to look for a class. We tried tap dancing classes once. You can imagine the result of all that noise! Chaos! Guest guest
Allie LOVES Bella Dancerella. She takes real dance now, but loves that toy. For anyone looking for last-minute gifts, it's a great price for what it offers.
