Not so fast here...although all this talk about methane from livestock overpowering other sources of methane and carbon dioxide in our atmosphere does indeed seem to be getting sillier and sillier, one cannot help but wonder about the agenda behind the organization who produced this report. What is the purpose of the United Nations' FAO, Food and Agriculture Organization, coming out with their 400-page report, entitled "Livestock's Long Shadow"? The FAO is not exactly held in high regard in all circles: http://www.answers.com/topic/food-and-agriculture-organization Let's not forget that it was the WHO, along with the UN's FAO, who sponsored the Codex Alimentarius Commission ( http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Health_freedom ). Are we suggesting genetically engineered cows or some other foolishness to reduce methane gas production?

Here's the link to the report, "Livestock's Long Shadow": http://www.virtualcentre.org/en/library/key_pub/longshad/A0701E00.htm (I still think they should pay more attention to the methane and CO2 which already is and could potentially be released as the permafrost in Siberia continues to thaw. Once that heating and thawing reaches a certain point (if it hasn't already), the cycle may be impossible to stop, and then we'd all be in big trouble, cows and all...)
