Guest guest
Perhaps you could connect him with Dr. Tim Buie at MGH - he works with kids on the spectrum and is a GI doc. He has published papers on food, intolerances and autism. He's probably more amenable to hearing about what helps our kids from another doc. We moms being such dummies and all. You can Google Dr. Buie's work to find the paper. Kim kimstagliano.blogspot.com
Guest guest
Thanks! I will try that. He did mention something about going to a site and it was all mom's going on and on about this stuff. Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
Tell the a-hole they just approved Risperdal for the treatment of autism. Maybe that will fit better into his concept of how to treat autism. Stop talking to him...try and get through to the wife. > > I have a question for any of you whose child had stomach issues (which I think will be most). I have a co-worker (doctor) who has recently found out that his son has autism. They have received their kit today for the gluten/casein peptide test from Great Plains so they will be finding out about that soon. Apparently his wife has been reading up on biomedical but he is trying to be against it.

Guest guest
Obviously, denial is not just a river in Egypt. RE: Re: Question about stomach issues Aren’t most Dr.s in denial? Guest guest
Let's see here. A man who has recently received a Dx for his son is now going through the porcess that we all have gone through as parents - sorting through the various possible treatments to arrive at the best decision for his son. And simply due to the fact that he has not immediately arrived at the same conclusions that others have, he is being referred to here as an " A-hole " . Unbelievable. > > <<Tell the a-hole they just approved Risperdal for the treatment of > autism. Guest guest
I think if he weren't an MD, one might use the term in small letters, rather than CAPS, Re: Question about stomach issues Let's see here. Guest guest
Steve dear, you're back, wonderful. Mr. Doctor is being given some very worthwhile information from someone like who has been " there and done " that. She is a wealth of information, yet he has taken a very closed/oppositional stance. Did you even read the orginal post? Here it is: " -I have a question for any of you whose child had stomach issues (which I think will be most). I have a co-worker (doctor) who has recently found out that his son has autism. They have received their kit today for the gluten/casein peptide test from Great Plains so they will be finding out about that soon. Apparently his wife has been reading up on biomedical but he is trying to be against it. Don't know if it is denial or what. He said if these tests did come back positive then it would be a moo point because they would have nothing else to feed him. (Child is 3 and still eating baby food:macaroni, etc.) I told him that he will learn to eat the other things over time. He wants those foods right now because of the " high " that he gets off of them. I told him that I wasn't going to lie, the behaviors would worsen when you started him on this diet. Just like a druggie going through with draws. He asked if we had Tyler on probiotics. He stated that his son doesn't have any stomach problems so he wasn't going to be doing any of those tests. No constipation or diarrhea, etc. Have any of you had your child tested that DIDN " T have problems and still find yeast, etc in their tests? He also stated that the one thing he would NOT do was chelate his son. That he knew what DMSA was and that it didn't belong in the body. I told him that neither did the lead, mercury, aluminum, etc that was coming out of my son. I told him that Tyler's body did not get rid of it on it's own so I would do what it takes to get it out of there! He said that he was debating on whether or not to give him his 4 year vaccines. I told him that my son didn't get his and he never would. Nor would his sister. I hope this is just denial and the more he (or his wife) reads the more he will open his eyes. I just don't understand people that will say " I will not do that! " even if it would help their child. A doctor at the Marcus Center said it would be a waste of time to send out the urine but to do it anyway if it would ease their mind. These same folks told me the same thing. I would like to take my son to them now and say " See this???????? " Sounds like Mr. Doctor has already decided that biomedical treatments are not going to be worth his precious time. His mind appears closed to these ideas, already... His wife seems to be interested and has even begun researching these things. should not waste her precious time trying to educate/inform/debate someone who clearly will dispute/question every single thing she is trying to tell him. Sound familiar? I remember your *questions* to this group and the long conversation that ensued. Why don't you try and contact him and enlighten him about the Neuro- diverse take on things. Autism is beautiful, autism is a gift...does that sound right to you? Time is of the essence buddy, and this guy needs to get on the ball ASAP. I think most people on *THIS* list would agree with me on that fact. Too bad for his kid if he continues to think like an a-hole. Does think like an a-hole work better for you, then flat-out calling him an a-hole? In retrospect, that probably was a little harsh. -- In EOHarm , " scd7131 " <steve.dionne@...> wrote: > > Let's see here. Guest guest
In the words of my DH, " If the mama's not happy - nobody's happy " . Talk to the wife. If she gets it, he'll get it whether he wants to or not. The science is clear. There are enough recovered/ing children around as evidence. She'll be holding that baby's hand on the biomedical journey soon enough. He can either join them or watch her dusting his denial off her boots. No offense intended to the dads on the list. You are all obviously a lot faster on the uptake than some. Talk to the mama. Good luck to you and their sweet child.
