Guest guest
I just wanted to share this with everyone since we have been talking about the young boy found in the street in Boardman Ohio. My husband is a plant manager of a steel procesing facility. He has a 25 year old man who works for him that has a 21 year old brother with autism. His brother has become his primary responsiblity. His father is deceased and they both live with his mother. The autistic man just recently went to a new placement during the day. Although I know nothing about the placement environment he is having a difficult tims. Soiling himself, aggressing, tantrumming and some SIB. Well, my husband's employee has had to leave work almost daily to deal with the situation occurring at the placement since they can't calm him or it is beyond what they can deal with or whatever. The first time my husband approached his employee and said something about him having an autistic brother he became very defensive. My husband later learned the previous plant manager had not been so understanding about his absentee issues due to his brother's problems. H\ My husband is very sensitive to his employees issues and always tells him " just go, whenever you need to " . My husband says if he was not the " boss " this kid would have lost his job by now. They use a system of points for absenteeism and so many you're gone. This is just one story..... Again how is the Combatting Autism Act going to help these people? Please I'd really like to know?
