Guest guest
Vera, you may not have scatterings, but I have met a lot of parents locally and talked to them on the phone. I've seen a lot of parents who don't make contact, repeat the same stories over and over to continue a conversation, etc. I myself have many similar traits to Allie, especially sensory regulation, and i know I was exposed to mercury as a child, through my mothers Rhogam shots and living on property ajoining a coal-fired power plant, and now have multiple mercury fillings. Dr. Geier has said that we know autism has a genetic aspect, why, because parents have the same genes as the kids but they don't have autism because they didn't get the mercury burden. Of course we're trying to do the right thing. I just think the autism community is much more headstrong than other communities who are also trying to do the right thing. I've seen lots of people in this region get cancer that seems to link with the national lab where the Manhattan Project took place in this town. You don't see the region up in arms, you see complacency. Granted, we see complacency in some autism families too, but I see a lot of behaviors among parents that make me scratch my head. Of course, stress from having to deal with it all could speak volumes, but the behaviors were there before the dx of the child in many of them.
