From an earlier somewhat ambiguous post:

One of two things- the NSA has way too much time on their hands; or

they consider the nonthreatening bedrock citizens of this society a threat.

Maybe they've screened out all of the gumshoes to make sure none has an autistic child or a child with one of the neurological disorders-that way a gumshoe won't take our side after hearing the truth.

Maybe this is what NYTimes (asmuch as I can't stand the way they've handled the thimerosal issue) is screaming about.
