Guest guest
I can understand your lack of enthusiasm, but I think the pending changes in the house should not be dismissed as a matter of indifference to our community. We have got exactly nothing and gone absolutely nowhere with the GOP in power in DC. We will have a window of opportunity that we have to seize. Frist will be gone. Barton will no longer be a committee chair. Kennedy will be chair of the health committee, these will be huge changes. We need to make sure that the new power holders hear from us. You know damn well they will be hearing form pharma and the AAP, and they will be quite aware that pharma and the AAP given vastly more money to the GOP than the Dems. They will not be inclined to do them a whole lot of favors. We have a chance to move our agenda forward and we need to get ready to do that. > > Suddenly this lyric just came to mind: > > Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, > Here I am, stuck in the middle with you... > > > > how about > > " when the world is running down, > you make the best of what's still around " > > -The Police > > >

Guest guest
While I don't pressume to speak for everyone, I believe most of us are fed up with the two party system. IT is naive to think that when the power changes hands they will admit Mercury was the main cause of autism and hold the vaccine companies responsible. It would be a lot easier if most of the press were not bought off or threatened to keep quiet, because the only way to justice is to change public opinion. It is going to happen, it is happening now. I was encouraged last month when my son's psychiatrist told us in confidence he belives mercury to be the main cause of autism, but for some reason he said it only briefly and in hushed tones. I thought about taking the route of contacting my Representative, but when I did a little research and saw that a drug company was his biggest campaign contributer, I figured it was a waste of time. If I did not have a family to support or a mortgage to pay, I would bullhorn congress, organize protests, do anything I could to get someone to pay attention. I think The majority of people who have children with autism and adhd are like me, they want satisfaction and justice, but they are also caught in this trap. If we could reach this silent majority and enpower them, the poloticians, press, and drug companies would no longer be able to ignore us. Guest guest
Sounds like your Congressman could use some OT. " lack of enthusiam " isn't really a characteristic I associate with you . I was thinking of a " you " out here that might be fed up with politics. > > I can understand your lack of enthusiasm, > > > you're not talking to me, right ? I'm VERY enthused about this > election. Guest guest
Hi Ed, I know what you are saying. We all have great limitations place on us with family, job and caring for chromnically sick kids. But if we aren't in the political game fighting we aren't going to get anywhere. At ACHAMP we have put together a program of Congressional District Leaders. Parents like us, who will be our communities' lobbyist to their own Member of Congress, you can't change the world by yourself but you can make sure your member of Congress and their staff hear from us loud and clear what we need them to do. We are trying to channel the frustaration you and I and many others feel into a constructive channel to achieve political change. We already ahve about 200 district leaders signed up and we are working on getting every Congressional candidate in the country to answer our questionnaire on autism related issues. And we sure could use your help. Please email me and consider joining our team. john Gilmore > > > > > > Suddenly this lyric just came to mind: > > > > > > Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, > > > Here I am, stuck in the middle with you... > > > > > > > > > > > > how about > > > > > > " when the world is running down, > > > you make the best of what's still around " > > > > > > -The Police > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Things can and do change, Let's not knock things before they have a chance to happen. I have to remind myself of that, everytime I think about the new parttime job my son lined up for himself last week. My son is basically working for "peanuts", but in his mind, it is a big deal, since he scored that job on his own without anyone else's help. Aasa Gilmore <yogilmore@...> wrote: Watch out! The corruption goes beyond the mercury issue. I think the internet will foster solutions. It will bring more remote, democratic monitoring of the political process. We need virtual freedom of information access to the government. More sunlight laws. Instant reporting of who gives what monies to whom. . . or you could just make me ruling king. I would be a good king, I promise, after I take care of me and mine, of course. (I'm now taking applications for handmaidens). Any friends reading this should send in their list of who they want put to death. Lenny

Guest guest
The most powerful act in all this is the ability to walk away. Why do you think that they mandate this crap? Because they're out of business without that. Re: We are going to have a Democratic House and Senate in November Hi Ed,I know what you are saying.
