I believe it to be 1991 or 1992. It seems to make a difference to as when this 12 hours after birth was ordered. http://www.path.org/vaccineresources/hepb.php In 1991, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that all countries add hepatitis B vaccine to their national immunization programs. According to WHO/UNICEF data as of 2004, 153 of 192 member states (80%) reported having introduced hepatitis B vaccine into routine immunization schedules, a five-fold increase since 1992. Despite significant progress, however, less than half of the world's infants (48%) had received 3 doses of the vaccine by the end of 2004. http://www.who.int/vaccines/en/hepatitisb.shtml The vaccine first became available in the United States in 1982 when the initial strategy was to give it as pre-exposure vaccination to populations at high risk for HBV infection (e.g. health care workers, men who have sex with men, and heterosexual persons with multiple partners). When the vaccine became widely available, a similar strategy was adopted by other industrialized countries. By the mid-1980s, several countries with very high prevalence of chronic HBV infection had begun the routine immunization of infants at birth. In 1992, WHO recommended that hepatitis B vaccine be integrated into national immunization programme of all countries with a rate of chronic HBV infection of 8% or higher by 1995, and into the programme of all countries by 1997. More than 135 countries have now done so. http://tinyurl.com/mm8f4 In November 1991, the ACIP recommended that hepatitis B vaccine be integrated into infant vaccination schedules (United States) That would be under the H.W. The numbers are 1 in 30 to 40 boys born during those years are ASD as a consequence of that protocol. Henry,Where do you get those numbers from? 1 in 30 to 40 boys with ASDs born between 1996-1999.I'm not disputing those numbers, as my ASD son was born during that timeframe - just curious.
