Guest guest
I'm sorry if I'm dense, but I really don't understand the football analogy, so I don't understand why Imus is mad at us. Is it because he is trying to get CAA passed, even while acknowledging all of its limitations (and the evilness of the politicians who hate our kids), while some of us are working at cross purposes against him (Imus)/it (CAA) by wanting to change it at the last minute? Guest guest
I think Imus means that the autism advocacy groups should hold tight on the environmental research component of the CAA and wait for Barton to leave his Chairman position and then try to get it passed next year with a more friendly atmosphere in congress. > > I'm sorry if I'm dense, but I really don't understand the football > analogy, so I don't understand why Imus is mad at us. Guest guest
Hi , I don't think Imus is mad at " us " . Judging by his words he is frustrated with those " elements in the community " (his words, paraphrasing) who compromised with Barton on designation for environmental funding when they did not have to. If you are at the five yard line and it is first down you have 4 chances to get across the goal line to reach your objective by scoring a touchdown. That was the position Imus feels he placed those organizations who are negotiating this. It is a good place to be - within excellent striking distance of the objective. He is upset that rather than going for the objective some negotiators compromised with Barton when they didn't have to, settling for a chance at a field goal (3 points) when they could have tried for the touchdown (7 points). The negotiators want to accept a bill without the touchdown, i.e., without the specific provision for designated funding for environmental research in " Centers of Excellence. " It is the opposite of what you stated below. He is critical of those who accepted changes at the last minute when we had negotiating leverage and other options to consider (like a new Congress that may be more friendly.) Many of us strongly agree with Imus - in fact that is the message of the A-CHAMP action alert that was published before Imus made his statements. Guest guest
, don't worry, I don't understand Imus! I've tried to watch his show. I praise God for his help, but I just can't hang with it, lol. I wish I had that stuff where I could queue it up to the parts about autism. Hubby or Jeff watch and report back to me. Guest guest
I agree and I thought of it as a situation where you give someone advice when they ask for it. You help them out and then they don't follow your advice and instead do something different. It's frustrating and it makes you not want to help someone like that.
