http://blogs.chron.com/medblog/archives/2006/06/the_antivaccine.html June 28, 2006 The anti-vaccine crowd at it again The National Vaccine Information Center, not to be confused with the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, has mounted a negative spin campaign against the new vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. I'm one of the first to worry the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been hijacked by political interests, but I'm still more inclined to believe what the CDC's ACIP has to say. The ACIP will review who should receive the HPV vaccine, Gardasil, tomorrow. The NVIC is made up of "parents of vaccine-injured children" (and HOW do they know the vaccine caused the injury?). This group is against "one-size-fits-all mass vaccination policies and the lack of basic science research into

biological mechanisms and high risk factors for vaccine-induced brain and immune system dysfunction." Via Medical News Today. Vaccines are one of the great triumphs of medicine. I suspect there is no proof that will satisfy the anti-vaccinators that the HPV vaccine is safe. The anti-vaccinators are lucky to live in a country where, thanks to herd immunity, their children have a good chance of remaining safe from vaccine-preventable diseases. My parents' generation was used to kids dying from a now preventable disease. Mine and my childrens' generations have not had to live that way. And i don't want to live that way. Are these the same people who are in the Flat Earth Society? Or the ones Buzz Aldrin has had to cold cock?
