Guest guest
Has anyone else notice the kneejerk support of the Human papilloma virus on Air America and and other liberal media outlets? Part of it is just an expected reaction to the opposition to HPV expressed by rightwing religious organization. Thoughtless, but some what understandable. But what is really disturbing is to hear people who would otherwise savage the Bush administration accept at face value that the safety and effecicacy studies performed by Merck and approved by a completely politicized FDA and CDC. Today Al en attacked the ACIP (the Advisory Committe of Immunixzation Practice, the fderal board which decisdes which vaccines get added to the recommended schedule, which provides immunity from liability and an almost guaranteed market for any vaccine)for being politicized because the " consumer " rep on the board is an associate of Dobson's Focus of the Family. A rep by the way who has never voted against any vaccine including those made with human fetal tissue. So let me get this straight. Al en thinks that a conservative Christian will swing the ACIP vote but the lure of no liability and millions of girls being required to take a $360 shot is not going to influence a decison of the this CDC? He's either an idioit, on the take or both. Air America has clearly adopted a policy of shilling for big Pharma. I listen pretty regularly to Al en's liberal talk radio network and I have been struck by the complete abscence of any discussions of drug safety, pharmaceutical company profits the abject taodying to pharma that motivated medicare part d, a complete absence of our issues oh AL en's show and a good number of ads from Glaxo, Merck and Novartis on Air AMerica, which are about the only large corporate sponsors I have ever heard advertise on Air America
