isn't the first time I've seen this from someone representing the British

National Autistic Society. Given the length of this post, the all-too familiar emotive,

inaccurate and parent-blaming language, I wouldn't be surprised to find

this person had something of a vested interest. I found a link from one page of

their website to 'Sense About Science', Fitzgerald's

front organisation whose sponsors include vaccine companies. Perhaps ''

is Fitzgerald.

It may

be a while before I calm down enough to speak. If anyone has time to make a

reply to this 'gentleman' I'd be very grateful. With specific

Time and time again we see studies about how to FIX

children with Autism, this is endemic when parents have never got over the

diagnosis of their child's Autism. This has also led to a whole range of

"quack" fixes from "special vitamins" to the tragic use

of "Chelation" therapy which killed Abubakar Tariq Nadama aged 5 in

August 2005. Confused parents of autistic children are now preyed upon by

organisations trying to sell them one remedy after another, usually leading to

the chelation sell. There is even one such company masquerading as a charity

here in the UK.

Sadly what most people fail to realise is that

Autistic children are actually developing albeit at a different rate to neurotypical

children. All children develop in random ways; some develop physically first,

other emotionally first and others intellectually first. This renders these

studies useless because the chances are that these children would have

developed in the same way without the medication, yogurt, oil or whatever.

I am not discounting the important of diet, in my area

around 50% of the parents of profoundly autistic children improved behaviour by

restricting Gluten. However, this is also the case for neurotypical children,

hence 's schools dinners.

As a parent of an autistic child I find it sad that

others have not yet come to terms with their child's diagnosis. For this

I have to thank the National Autistic Society and their Earlybird Plus

programme, which we attended this every Friday for three months. We met other

parents of autistic children and learned the strategies for dealing and coping

with all the difficulties an autistic child presents.

As exhausting as it is to care for our child there is

a purity and innocence often lacking in other children, our love for her is so

profound I am not sure we would change her even if we could.

People need to stop trying to FIX our autistic

children and start learning to tolerate those that are DIFFERENT in our

society. Parents have to get over the diagnosis so that they can start focusing

on how to help their autistic children, they face a long a hard battle to get

the services they need from Education, Social Services and the Health Service.

Campaigns such as Make School Make Sense (MSMS) have helped increase awareness

but there is a lot of work to do. Even the NAS admits it is only managing to

help one in four families affected by autism.

All we have to do to find out if the massive rise in

Autism was caused by the mercury in the vaccines given to babies is WAIT.

Vaccines with Thimerosal (Mercury) were ceased in the UK in

October 2004, so after October 2007 we should start seeing some reduction IF

that was a factor.

This makes me so angry!! My brother and his wife had a baby a few weeks ago and are not going to vaccinate because of EOH book I sent them. A pediatrician with a child with Autism at the hospital told my brother that there isn't any proof that vaccines cause Autism and because she has a daughter with Autism he should believe her. He told her to kiss his ass and didn't vaccinate their newborn. He told her that people with more credentials and whom have studies and stats to prove the harm have more creditability than her narrow minded, believe everything you read from the CDC, mind. She shut up and left.

Nothing makes me more angry than parents with children with Autism claiming that vaccines are safe and that the diet, biomed, homeopathy, etc. are fads and don't work without truly trying it for a while first. they tell us to accept that our children have this awful and preventable disease and learned to live with their disabilities instead of treating it.

The death of that poor 5 year old child will always be used to prove their point. They fail to mention that deaths with chelations are very rare and that a lot of children benefit and/or recover. My son is one of them. He isn't recovered yet, but the difference is incredible.

I don't know where I would fit on your scales but I am Vaccine pro but believe in waiting until the child is at least 2 yrs of age before giving shots one at a time spaced out so they get the bennies of the vaccines but not all the extra garbage that goes in the multi shots.

I have a son who is now 7 yrs old and is vaccine damaged (from the extra stuff that went into the vaccines and the MMR live vaccine zapped his gut). He is now 90% recovered through biomedical, diet and traditional therapies (OT, SP, DT, and OT with SIPT--sensory). not any one thing that we have used was the cure all but in combination they all helped him to where he is today. On new son about to be born in the next month will follow the new protocol (no vaccines until 2 and then one at a time) along with getting some of the benefits of CLO and B vitamins early on.

I agree 100%. My son had the same exact experience as your child. We are using a protocol, for our new baby (my ASD son will not get any more shots) that a Dr. Hicks uses (he has a son with Autism) where one waits until the age of two, he prefers four, to vaccinate one virus at a time one month apart and the MMR, separate of course, three months of each other. NO HEP B, VARICELLA, FLU SHOTS AND PNEUMOCOCCAL/PREVNAR. The child has to be well for at least 30 days with no fevers or anything. I'm not anti-vaccine. I'm anti-government schedule and the use of preservatives in the vaccine.

What brand or form of CLO and B vitamin will you be using on your newborn? Our son has benefited from biomed, OT, Speech, ABA and Hippo together. He also has a great Special Education teacher. Very respectful of my biomed decision and follows the diet at school.

My problem with the incident with my brother is that the pediatrician wanted to give his new baby the Hep B shot and was trying to force him to poison his child with her misinformation. I didn't mean to sound like I was 100% against vaccine . Last I heard, the HEP B shot still has mercury and other bad things. My brother will follow the protocol I'm following with my baby.

My seven month old hasn't been vaccinated and has not had an ear infection, fever or anything that my son with Autism had at this age. Even when he caught the sniffles at my church's nursery, it was gone quickly. I'm sure he is this healthy because he hasn't been poisoned.

Tariq Nadama aged 5 in August 2005. "

I know that many of you are aware of this fact but it cannot be

emphasized too strongly and bears repetition that the child mentioned

above who supposedly was " killed " by chelation did not die because of

chelation. He died because the wrong drug was used, disodium EDTA

instead of Calcium EDTA. People die every day due to mistakes in giving

the wrong drug yet the therapy is not condemned. The use of the tragedy

involving the child to condemn chelation is dishonest, ignorant or

shameful, or all three.

And do not take my word that it was a medical mistake and not chelation

I've seen it mentioned in the news somewhat recently that he died

during chelation.

We all know that it was a look alike/sound alike medication error.

People don't stop treatment for cancer because someone else got too

much chemo drug (or some other medication error).

I'm beginning to question everything I see reported in the news.

Some interesting chelation tid-bits from the website of Dr Jaconello

A study was started at the Walter Hospital in the United States

on EDTA Chelation Therapy. Unfortunately this research was interrupted

before completion by the Gulf War in 1990 and was never restarted as

the funding for this research was withdrawn. However, important

observations and discoveries were found... Aluminum was removed at

much higher levels with 1 gm of Magnesium EDTA compared to 3 gm of

Magnesium EDTA. Aluminum has been implicated in Alzheimer's Disease

because this mineral is found in the nerve tangles associated with

established disease.

A research study on the effect of trivalent chelating agents was being

done in Toronto, Canada in the 1980's. Trivalent chelating agents are

effective for removing ferric (reduced iron) ion and aluminum. The

agent being used was Deferoxamine on a select group of patients with

Alzheimer's with an age matched control group. After 2 years of

treatment, the treated group had better cognitive parameters, compared

to the control group with Alzheimer's who deteriorated in the expected

way. This research suddenly came to a stop and has not been continued

for political reasons.

Chelating processes are essential to life and occur naturally in our

bodies. Naturally occurring chelates include chlorophyll which is a

chelate of magnesium, haemoglobin which is a chelate of iron and

vitamin B12 which is a chelate of cobalt.

Some drugs work by chelating minerals. For instance, the antibiotic

tetracycline is a chelator of zinc and prevents the bacteria from

getting the zinc it requires for its reproduction. This makes the

bacteria weaker and more susceptible to being engulfed and destroyed

by the patient's own white blood cells.

Contrast this kind of info with media / AAP sound bytes like " useless
