Guest guest
Hey , My husband was just telling me about a documentary on HBO this month called " Hacking Democracy " He told me he watched it for about a half- hour and was telling me some of the things he saw. From what he described I plan on watching it. So, if you have HBO or know someone who does you might want to check it out. It had me sick to my stomach before the election. I was so worried people were going to steal the election. I even made calls for Moveon.org on Saturday, asking Dems to vote. That movie really got me motivated. Hopefully the Dems can pass legislation to reform the voting system.

Guest guest
Bob I read that piece when it first came out. Blackwell was running for Ohio Governor. I was wondering if they were still going to allow him to tabulate the votes?!?!? Evidently not, he lost by a very large margin. " But in the battle for Ohio, Republicans had a distinct advantage: The man in charge of the counting was Blackwell, the co- chair of President Bush's re-election committee.(43) As Ohio's secretary of state, Blackwell had broad powers to interpret and implement state and federal election laws -- setting standards for everything from the processing of voter registration to the conduct of official recounts.(44) And as Bush's re-election chair in Ohio, he had a powerful motivation to rig the rules for his candidate. Blackwell, in fact, served as the ''principal electoral system adviser'' for Bush during the 2000 recount in Florida,(45) where he witnessed firsthand the success of his counterpart , the Florida secretary of state who co-chaired Bush's campaign there. Guest guest
So i guess electronic voting is evil now. 6 years ago it was " why do we have the damn chads? why isn't everything computerized " . so are you ever happy? surprise, surprise the people who are in charge of elections actually have a political affiliation. or an opinion even. my god help us, the UFO's are coming. God what a bunch of Hack dribble. Leave your bias at the door lets not be the kind of people who complain when they are given a million dollars in gold that it is too heavy. Guest guest
Dude - chill out... Perhaps something could pass by that you disagree with on this group without you rushing to reply by using inflammatory language aimed towards other members. Each person here is participating because they love and care about someone with autism - Don't they deserve the utmost respect regardless of their opinions? Next time you want to use such judgments, could you imagine the object of your ire as a parent loving their wonderful, special child despite the circumstances? (poop smearing, biting, scratching, stretched and broken finances, IEPs, multiple medical maladies, insomnia, etc., etc.). All these folks (including you) are heroes - They all need and deserve a heroes' reception and recognition! God bless, > > So i guess electronic voting is evil now. > 6 years ago it was " why do we have the damn chads? why isn't > everything computerized " . > so are you ever happy? > surprise, surprise the people who are in charge of elections actually > have a political affiliation. > or an opinion even. > my god help us, the UFO's are coming. > > God what a bunch of Hack dribble. > Leave your bias at the door > > lets not be the kind of people who complain when they are given a > million dollars in gold that it is too heavy. >

Guest guest
, you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination (to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that some of the " prime " posters are posting. I know that this site seems to be the robert K and christine show but since their posts have not been in any way related to autism or vaccinations or mercury or the cdc or ........you get my point. I would never post a topic that was political in nature, however i feel that i needed to speak up for those who are clearly underrepresented on this site, conservatives who while disgusted with the vaccination program that our kids face at the hands of the US government, are wholeheartedly glad that under a republican president we have a great economy, an iraq that is moving slowly toward reason, a couple bills on the floor or in committee to help our kids(something the dems did not do while they had the whole ball of wax by the way) While i appreciate perhaps since i joined my posts have been primarily in response to some post i feel were first off, out of line on this site, and often very inflamatory since they presume opinion to be fact and use inuendo as evidence. is uppose the use of the word hack and damn were abit beyond what was called for and inflamatory in their own right but please this is getting rediculous i think lately this site should change its name to republican's need not apply. I can see why all of the posters i have read so far in the week i have been on this site have really had their hate on and i suppose some of it is inspired by the loving ads our elected officials use to garner our respect. I am trying to respect those on this site and I have to say I have responded based on the statements made not as an initiator. maybe you should send some of those (after you read their original posts) a little smarten up letter. I deserve/desire no extra honor because my daughter has needs different than those of other kids. she gives me all the gratitude i need. I certainly will do my best to keep the infamatory language off my posts.

Guest guest
As has been stated many times before, there is enough blame and enough partisanship to go around. The kids need our help, our focus, our expertise, our concern. The Republicans and Democrats, both corrupt, both inadequate, do not need our help, our contrition or our support- they will take whatever they want and do injustice in a certain way each has shown itself to be expert at. The election is over. Let's move on (not moveon). The best we can hope for, at the moment, is advance for our kids, and hopefully some help and recognition in the same vein. While I remain incredibly skeptical, given their history, about the Democrats' willingness or ability to advance our projects, at least they are a devil we don't know. That said, there is a newness and freshness to it all. Let's hope it doesn't collapse once again into delay, dissembling, lying and deception. We need to work together against the common enemy (both Republicans and Democrats who do not want to address this issue). Re: FW: Rumsfield replacement ( Gates) was director of voting company ,you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination(to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that some of the "prime" posters are posting. My only partisanship on this list is towards our kids. I do not recall ever posting something on this list that advocates for a political candidate or party, and certainly nothing that is remotely inflammatory. I do have my views on " party " political subjects but I deliberately avoid allowing my political views intrude on what I write except to the extent that they affect our children's interests. This first came up when I posted a listmember's Huffington Post article that dealt directly with autism. I did so without comment except to congratulate the list member on her well-written piece. The Huffington Post article did include references to issues related to our leaders policies on our war in Iraq, but I made not comment on that until you made that issue a focus of your message. The other political references I have recently made were to candidates who might be helpful or not on our children's issues relating to vaccine injury and related legislation. You may recall my praise for Sen. Lieberman who likely holds views on national issues close to yours. I praise Senator Lieberman because he is a tremendous and courageous advocate for our children on the vaccine issue. I have also unreservedly praised Reps. Weldon and Burton for all they have done for our children. As you know they are conservative Republicans. They too have been courageous advocates for our children. You may be reacting to my posting of RFK, Jr's Rolling Stone article on hacking computer voting machines. I did so without comment because the issue came u[. I see little vice and certainly nothing inflammatory in doing so. As for , I do not recall her ever posting a partisan political message. The posting from blackbox.com is relevant to the extent that Pres. Bush has done little or nothing for our kids and the current administration has similarly been hostile to our children's interests. If the new Secy of Defense has a past in computer voting that, I think, is relevant to our children's political interests, irrespective of partisan party politics. The influence of paid lobbyists and political operatives who act on behalf of corporations adverse to our children is fair game here. Anything that may corrupt our political process is equally fair game - including the prospect of corrupting elections through the " hacking " [a computer term of art that is not inflammatory] of computer voting machines. On the other hand, I will not be reticent when and if the Democrats become a roadblock for our kids - and there are times in the past that certain Democrats have been less than helpful. I have criticized Rep. Waxman because of his refusal to even consider that vaccines might have a causal relationship to autism. Similarly, Sen. Clinton has a long record supporting and promoting the vaccine program and, while friendly on liability issues, is not so friendly when it comes to the vaccine issue. One of the purposes of this list is to discuss the politics that affect our children. That does not include discussion of the the Iraq war but does mean we should look at who is funding those in power and who controls lobbying, etc, and who are our friends and foes in either party. So, I respectfully think that you are confusing efforts at critical thinking and analysis with partisan statements favoring one party for another. I am a lifelong Democrat - I think you figured that out - but I would not hesitate for one second to criticize or actively work against any Democrat who operated against the interests of my child and our children. I think that should create a political bond between us and all like-minded parents on this list, whether Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal or Green. Bob K. On Nov 9, 2006, at 3:59 PM, H. Guest guest
I appreciate you omitting inflammatory language from you subsequent posts. I also appreciate the " K and " show and have found that their posts and discussions have been very much related to autism. It may not be intuitive to you, but both have worked very hard in understanding the different players and many of us have been dealt some very hard blows from the current administration. If you'd like additional perspective, I will give it to you but would prefer to do so via email and not in a public forum. This site is monitored for content by several entities that may not have our children's best interest at heart. As for conservatives, I am one - Ideologically, I am a social conservative and a moderate when it comes to fiscal issues. I've always felt more than welcome in this group and have appreciated all of the viewpoints represented - Since the group started after 's book was launched, I can't remember one time being chastisted for my perspective. Neither have I been called out in third person in a negative light. > > , > you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a > group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop > being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination > (to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you > reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that > some of the " prime " posters are posting. Guest guest
Thanks, Bob - Very well spoken and gracious as always. This group has been very inclusive in the past and I must admit that I have recently made the switch from a Republican to a " Blue Dog " Democrat and am strangely equally welcome. I would imagine that if in 2008, I switch to the Workers World party, I'll be welcome here as well (only I don't look all that good in camo)... > > > , > > you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a > > group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop > > being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination > > (to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you > > reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that > > some of the " prime " posters are posting. Guest guest
, I am a life-long conservative Republican and a former elected official, but even I bristled at some of your remarks and my jaw dropped in disbelief at some of your observations about the CAA and Rick Santorum. As one of the parents who met personally with Santorum, lobbied for the CAA Consensus Bill, spent many hours on The Hill, investigated the issues and the players and followed their dirty little money trail; I can say with absolutely certainty that you have not been given the full story on the CAA or Rick Santorum (or if you have you have chosen to ignore the facts). Actions speak louder than words. Rick Santorum's actions have repeatedly been against our children (Senate Bill S-3, Eli Lilly rider, the Department of Defense Appropriations conference report last December, etc.). His desperate 11th hour attempt to use our children and the CAA to get re-elected is one of the slimiest political moves that I have ever witnessed (having cut my teeth on good ol' boy Georgia politics that is saying a lot!). I don't post very often but I do try to keep abreast of the ongoing dialogue on this list (Lenny is one of my favorite Dads and keeps things lively but relatively fair here). However, I could not let your remark about the K and show, go unchallenged. While I have met and like her very much, I am not as closely acquainted with her as I am with K. I have had the privilege and honor to not only get to know Bob Krakow but work with him on several levels. As an attorney, he has an impressive background and track record. His willingness to explain in laymen's terms the many complicated legal aspects of our children's situation has been a valuable service to this community. His ability to fully comprehend the science and its nuances is on par with many who have spent their careers in medicine. He is an intelligent, open-minded, kind-hearted, decent, hard-working man, an exceptional caring husband and father and a loyal friend. As a parent/advocate, Bob is one of our children's staunchest advocates, carefully analyzing the legal, political and scientific debates and applying those analyses to obtain the best possible outcomes for our children from not only a legal aspect but from a political and medical standpoint as well. He spends many, many hours in service to this community and our children. His willingness to serve on Boards, draft letters, answer legal, scientific and political questions, lobby issues at not only the State level but in DC as well, give speeches and anything else that will benefit the children has endeared Bob to many of us. Bob has been more conciliatory to Republicans than I, giving them the benefit of doubt long after I had wanted to wash my hands of the whole corrupt bunch. As a conservative Republican, I am embarrassed by the level of deceit and corruption that I have witnessed from my own party. Under Republican leadership, I have watched my party trample the Constitution, place our brave military men and women at risk under nefarious circumstances, undo environmental protection policies that took years to put into place, manipulate scientific data for profit, engage in scandalous behavior and basically sell their votes and our Country to the highest bidder/lobbyist even at the expense of the health and welfare of children and senior citizens. I am ashamed of what we have allowed our party to do and become…and apparently many, many, many other Republicans felt the same as I do or the election results would have been very different on Tuesday. The Democrats should remember they are back in power in large part because a lot of Republican voters sent a very serious political message to our party leadership. If the Republican leadership does not heed that message (or thumpin' as President Bush called it) and change their ways then the 2008 elections will look much the same. Mind you, I haven't seen a lot to be proud of from the Democrats either. ly, my only regret is that we (the voters) did not have the opportunity to send every last one of them home - regardless of party and start over from the White House on down (along with many of their bureaucratic paper-pushing, brown-nosing political appointees and condescending junior staffers). As a Republican, my own party has violated my trust…now they must EARN it back or put forth different candidates willing to break the pattern of lies, deceit, corruption and selling of power. It is not in the best interests of our children to trust either party exclusively. Trust and respect are earned. Bob Krakow has earned my trust, respect and admiration. I wish I could say the same of my elected officials. Lujene ,you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination (to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that some of the "prime" posters are posting. I deserve/desire no extra honor because my daughter has needs different than those of other kids. she gives me all the gratitude i need. I certainly will do my best to keep the infamatory language off my posts.
Guest guest
Er, we know it was just an aside but the Worker's World party is not partial to those who wish to make their own choices in medical care. Re: FW: Rumsfield replacement ( Gates) was director of voting company Thanks, Bob - Very well spoken and gracious as always. This group has been very inclusive in the past and I must admit that I have recently made the switch from a Republican to a "Blue Dog" Democrat and am strangely equally welcome. I would imagine that if in 2008, I switch to the Workers World party, I'll be welcome here as well (only I don't look all that good in camo)...> > > ,> > you know, i joined this group becuse it was supposed to be a> > group of concerned parents who want their kids and others to stop> > being hurt by careless and possibly intentional medical contamination> > (to be charitable). did you look at what i responded to? have you> > reviewed the clearly politicaly driven and inflamatory stuff that> > some of the "prime" posters are posting.
