Guest guest
The local/state impact of A-champ and the efforts of Gilmore, Krakow, Bobbie Manning, etc., coupled with the Weldon/Maloney legislation (vaccine safety) and the Maloney/Olmsted legislation (ferreting out the reality in vaccines) are extremely important pieces in this puzzle. This work should be highly commended. Spectrum Magazine articles & NAA Maximom offered: Weldon, Maloney Introduce Vaccine Safety Bill Measure Removes CDC’s Conflict of Interest; Helps Preserve Public Confidence in Vaccine Safety Research "Weldon and Maloney were joined by several groups advocating vaccine safety reform, including the National Autism Association, A-Champs, and safeMINDS. According to the National Autism Association, “This landmark legislation will provide critical government agency oversight and implementation of vaccine safety research, which has not kept pace with the rise in the number of vaccines routinely prescribed to consumers including pregnant women and young children.†I fully understand that Autism Speaks, CAN and other "major" autism organizations have made the CAA their highest priority. However, I think the NAA should be commended for having the organizational courage to publicly support both, the CAA and Weldon/Maloney legislation. Guest guest
Kelli Ann, There is nothing wrong with pointing out Mark Blaxill's enormous contributions to the autism community. However, to say that you are doing so to " set the record straignt " is a just more of your provocations. Nothing that anyone has said in this thread directly or indirectly discounts Mark's role in the Maloney legislation. Yet, you come on like you need to rush to his defense as if people here are attacking or dismissing him. Puuhleeze! Stop trying so hard to pick fights, or to stir up " them vs. us " mentality. This is your response to Bob M. giving kudos: " I think the NAA should be commended for having the organizational courage to publicly support both, the CAA and Weldon/Maloney legislation. " ? No need to straw man Henry as dissing Mark. Try taking smaller steps, trying seeking truth for a foot or two first, and see how it goes. ;-) Love, Lenny > > > > The local/state impact of A-champ and the efforts of Gilmore, > Krakow, Bobbie Manning, etc., coupled with the Weldon/Maloney > legislation (vaccine safety) and the Maloney/Olmsted legislation > (ferreting out the reality in vaccines) are extremely important > pieces in this puzzle. Guest guest
Lenny, Certainly don't understand how making a statement like " to set the record straight " equates to " provocation " ?? Guest guest
The point I was trying to make was not to diss Mark- far from it- but to point out that local efforts in the state and municipalities by A-Champ and on the federal legislation which involves Burton, Weldon and/or Maloney, represent a far more likely scenario for producing success. The locals aren't fighting for their lives and they have to pay for the mistakes of the feds. In general, that makes them better allies than those in congress. Weldon, Burton and Maloney have shown themselves to be reliable allies and that is worth quite a bit. The motivation of others is very suspect, even if genuine. ] That is not to suggest that those who work on other legislation, including CAA, are not working their hearts out or even being effective, it's just that the cards are so stacked against success in certain areas, given the institutional bias and interests fighting for their lives on and against this issue. Facts and truth are always important, but to get the facts and truth, sometimes you simply have to make allegations. Guest guest
I understand that- I just wanted to make sure everyone knew. Sometimes one cannot completely gauge how people will take the written, as opposed to the spoken, word. Just a simple clarification, if one was needed. Guest guest
Kelli, Saying that you are " setting the record straight " implies that you are correcting the errors of others. This is provocational when there are no such errors being made because it misstates the their actions. This is not the first time you have done this straw man tactic, and it is not the first time it has been pointed out to you by me, so it is possible you may not be aware of what you do. I intend to point it out for you if you continue such tactics because it is rude, divisive and not welcomed. I have received complaints from list members about it. Check. Guest guest
Lenny, " Setting the record straight " does not automatically imply that others made errors...it simply means, as in this case, that I am adding " information " to a statement in order to present more facts...in essence, so people can form their opinions based on all the facts (the full record, if you will)... Simple as that Lenny. Kelli > > > > > > > > > Kelli Ann, > > > There is nothing wrong with pointing out Mark Blaxill's enormous > > > contributions to the autism community. Guest guest
Setting the record straight implies that the person doing that has the correct response , the right answer.
