Take all your hard earned $$$$ and keep on with your awareness campaigns, your studies on the best behavioral therapies, help families with expenses, lobby for better laws and insurance coverage, but YOU KNOW and I KNOW what caused your grandson's "autism", so either spend some of that $$$ on how to fix THAT problem or STAY AWAY from the bio-medical side of this all together. It's just mind-boggling that you would take all that money and bark up the trees where you KNOW you won't find anything. SO MUCH BETTER could be done with that money!!! I agree wholeheartedly. Even "Baghdad Bob" Offitt acknowledges there is an "environmental trigger" and that should be Autism Speaks ONLY priority. All other research is already being funded by our federal government. In fact, they have done absolutely NOTHING to identify the "environmental trigger" and they unashamedly admit they are as "mystified" today as they were decades ago when they began their "research efforts". Kim is right. Autism Speaks has done a fantastic job creating "awareness" and I will always be grateful for their efforts. However, any funds their awareness campaign raises should go to research efforts that are directed solely towards identifying what Diedre Imus describes as the "root cause". Parents simply do not have the luxury of time to await another decade before the "root cause" is finally identified..
